Restart after Windows Update, Start11 menu wiped

I don't think Start 11 is running, just the windows start menu as no programs have add to start 11 in their right click menu now and my Start 11 menu of selected programs isn't there.  But running start 11 software doesn't put them back either?

Uninstall start11, reboot and reinstall Start11 1.45

I have the same problem.  Uninstalling and then installing the beta did not fix the problem.  Fences is also broken, the icons show evene when show desktop icons is not checked.

If I reinstall how do I backup my settings first so I don't need to re-set up my menu from scratch?

Are you using an insider build of Windows?

Uninstalling should not mess with your settings unless you pick the option to delete all your settings when uninstalling.

Settings are stored in the registry at Current user\software\stardock\start8

I figured out what's going on...

When I press the windows  key on my keyboard, my curated Start 11 menu doesn't come up, but when I press the paw on the taskbar it does.  There's  a setting to make sure the windows key is utilizing the start 11 menu, right?

No, just the standard recent update.

That's not the problem.  The recent Windows update broke Start 11.

You're right, the setting is set properly in Start 11 and it's just not working anyway.

I have all the latest Windows 11 updates installed and the latest Start 11, with no issues at all.

You need start11 1.45 beta.

Also it will not work if the foreground window is elevated.

Did you uninstall and reboot between installing it?

With the exception of the elevated app issue it should be working perfectly.

What exact build number of Windows do you have?

I found the problem.  I'm running on a desktop but Start11 thinks it's running on a tablet.  I changed the setting from Start11 unless in tablet mode to Start11 and Start11 now always appears.  But I found a new problem.  It always flashes the taskbar just before bringing up the menu even though I keep it hidden

I wound up doing a system restore to June 2nd, prior to recent big windows updates and now my start button works with start 11.
