What do you think about Nuclear Weapons?

I think they are passé. There is no reason to develop better ones or for that matter make more of them.

I can think of one reason to make better ones and that is to blow up asteroids or meteors that threaten the Earth with impact.

A nuclear bomb is not going to scare a terrorist because terrorist use different tactics and use the community as their shield/catalyst.

So is there any reason why someone would approve new better nuclear bombs?

Lets be realistic, if there is only 1 nuclear missile fired we can say goodbye to the world.

I think they're great....more bang for your buck than all those other tossers on your street with poncy Uzis and Carbines.

Get a real man's weapon, not some girlie chaff-cutter for your next highschool prom....

Not quite... The world would have been gone after some of the nuclear bomb testing. Unless you meant other countries reacting and sending some more nuclear missles to the party?

Hmm maybe limited research and development, for those astroids and etc.

Everything is a potential weapon, lets just hope they do not develope Nanobots which can realign the molecular structure of human beings for medical purposes.

Can you imagine standing next to someone watching them turn into a Steaming Turd before your eyes?

Though I might think of a few I might like to see that happen to for a few hours, I still think it would probably not be a good thing

Yeah. But true nanotechlogy would be both a terror and a boon for us. Imagine mining the dump and getting pure raw minerials? Just dump a cupful of nanos in dump, in next morning there's a new raw minerials stored in a fresh new warehouse that was built from garbage too.

Also, medicial nanos would make humans or any living things mankind feels is worth it immortal.

On the flip side: "Can you imagine standing next to someone watching them turn into a Steaming Turd before your eyes? " isn't the worse that could happen. Imagine the recycling nanos that was hacked then set loose in a big city. We'll end up with a huge area of warehouses with raw minerials and no people. That would be nightmare.

It's not the techlogy that kills people. People kills people.

@FUZZY !!!!!!!!!

Mr XX, yep, people do kill people without a doubt. If we happened to spend as much money on new and improved manners of improving life imagine where this planet could be....

Remember the Genesis Video "Superman"? WHere the Regan puppet wakes up in the middle of the night in confusion and is slapping around for the light switch and hits the button?

In the US you may not have seen a satire puppet show called 'Spitting Image', but there's this Regan puppet (with no brain), which says "eh, Ed, what does this red button do...."

And then there's this other arc to the story where each week a sketch is entitled "The President's brain is missing" and there's this (small) brain wandering around.

OK, guess you had to be there...

I wish they had that one the BBC channel now

If you think they made an idiot out of Regan, you should have seen what they did to Maggie Thatcher...

Damn, I miss that programme

all nuclear weapons do is make a case for lead paint. If you put enough on the walls and don't eat it you might have a cockroaches chances to survive the blast.

M.A.D. = Mutually Assured Destruction

This is what Styl Skinner was talking about. This was a big thing during the cold war. If the US had bombed the USSR they would have reacted with a barrage of nuclear missiles targeted on the US and it would cause global chaos and destruction. Chain reaction type stuff. Real scary. The same thing goes on today but we're friends with russia now, so we dont have much to fear from them. And Russia and the US have the two largest stashes of nuclear weapons on the planet still. We just have to worry about the smaller countries trying to get some leverage.

Nuclear weapons are bad. Period. And as long as theyre around there will always be some form of terrorism. The US is guilty of it too. We scare other countries into doing what we say because we still have the largest and most powerful armed forces. And its scary for me because if we did have a global nuclear attack im sure that i would be one of the first to go due to the fact I live real close to Strategic Air Command which controls almost 1/3 of all the nuclear weapons in the US.
