OH yes I remember now but introduced other problems like control panel titlebar not being skinned and a couple other problems that I can't recall, at any rate I rolled back to beta 1.

control panel titlebar not being skinned
Control panel title bar is being skinned.

Really? It must be a skin issue I tried 4 different skins and none skinned  the titlebar for control panel oh and the settings app wasn't being skinned either. I'm running windows 11 pro latest updates and what skin did you use?

Quoting SimplexDesigns,

Before beta 3 is released. Can you please add in an option to not skin any parts of the taskbar & startmenu under windowblinds settings.

I am afraid this is not something thats technically viable from our end as it isn't quite that simple.  The start menu and taskbar are both part of explorer and the only simple solution there would be to exclude the entire of explorer as there is overlap between those and other areas in how WB does things.  Worth noting that Start10/11 are both designed to cooperate with WB in order to prevent such issues.

That said I believe you could use Start11 with explorer patcher if you really liked the Win10 taskbar as WindowBlinds will see that as Windows 10 (or will do in beta 2 and above)

That stinks because window blinds totally destroys start 11. Would really like to see an option not to change the start bar. I understand that it probably won't happen because it's too difficult but I set the start bar and menu for the way I want it in window blinds just overrides everything options instart 11 are grayed out.

Good afternoon! I have a small wish for developers? There is such a program: -Clover 3.5.6! I really want you, dear ones, to test and combine it with WindowBlinds11. All the best and success.

This is not new, Start10 and WindowBlinds 10 worked the same way.

For the Start menu you have the choice of using the WB skin or the Start11 style.  The taskbar will apply the WB skin because thats the point of WindowBlinds.

Idk why my post was edited above. Showing what happens when I use startallback+wb11. A whole paragraph went poof along with images to go with it. That was not cool!

As for just using explorerpatcher+start11, Thats not feasible for me. Startallback not only brings back w10's taskbar but it also re-introduces skinning the taskbar jumplist again as well. Explorer patcher cant do that yet. Start11 is not perfect for search as well and feels clunky.

Please look into at least getting the start orb working like it did back in vista/7. If other 3rd party programs can do the same, Idk why WB11 cant. You made it so we can have custom button sizes for the windows that cant be normally done with a msstyle hack so something can be done there on the start button.

Honestly, if there are so many limitations in 11 you cant get around. I think its time that you look into bringing back Objectbar and Right click. These would fit so well with windows 11 and would tie in really nicely with windowblinds11. It would allow bypassing all the shortcomings of windows 10/11

Window blinds has a lot more abilities than just changing the task bar and menu. Regardless it's still annoying I would really like to see an option in window blinds to leave the start bar the way start 11 has it. Either that or integrate some of the options in start 11 into window blinds.

I hope the Devs can sort these numerous issues we are reading about in these and previous pages, it seems each new day a new issue is reported, even as far as some users having conflicts with both WB11 and Start 11 which are supposed to work together in Harmony. I am thankful there are other ways to achieve a Customised Computer set up.

I would like to remind everyone this is a support thread so posts need to be related to the product.  I have cleaned up the thread as we had unrelated posts here.

Please also be reminded of our long standing policy of not permitting posts about competitor products (to any of our apps)

Unfortunately your post broke the rules about competitor promotion so was edited accordingly down to the succinct point that you wanted a reply to rather than just deleting the entire post.

We have discussed the orb before.  It has been a huge number of years working as it does without complaint.  Unlike other solutions we have to be concerned over compatibility as we have to provide support.  There are many edge cases involved which other solutions may not be so concerned about, but as we ship Start11 to lots of corporate customers we have to be more focused on this.

The new taskbar that the insider builds of Win11 ship with will also not permit wider start buttons (when using the Win11 taskbar) than the stock one unlike earlier builds.  These are things we have to consider and it is fair to say we have a fair idea of upcoming changes and what we have do to in order to support them.

This is also why unlike some solutions we have not patched fixed addresses in Microsoft code in order to 'unlock' the leftover Windows 10 taskbar in Windows 11 but instead did our own work and likewise with the menu.  It is a long term support nightmare otherwise.

I believe if you want the taskbar to revert back to Start11 options (ignoring the UI side which may remain disabled - hold ctrl when opening that to bypass that) then if you edit the skin to remove the taskbar buttons section it should revert control back to Start11.

I'd like to request stardock showcase a few of their in house skins with a skinned start 10/11 styled start menu rather then just 7 style. I would like to see how that works in general

This is in the works.

Dani has been working with it and seems quite happy with the end results.

YAY!  I've been using the Windows 7 style for this very reason but prefer the "Modern" style

Please be sure to announce when WB11 and Start11 have new versions so I can like my PC again.  Since we can't rely on ODM to be accurate.

Windows 10/11 style start menu options in start11 do not change even though things are set in windowblinds. Idk if it's broken. I can't seem to get them to change.

I'd uninstall and make sure the reg is clean ccleaner maybe? then reinstall

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, why do you post same issue on multiple thread? Please refer to your other thread going forward.

Thanks

No, he is on Mac, which probably on ARM chips which is not compatible with Stardock Software product. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_M1
