Who says magic is dead? Just the other day, Spotify got installed on my computer with neither my consent or knowledge. After boot, a splash screen popup appeared just like the one in the article linked.

Not to make a short story long, this happened after a Windows update...but MS isn't talking about whether this was due to some bizarre planetary conjunction, or whether it was some deal Spotify made with MS...who knows, maybe booting up will become a new ad opportunity for income for MS, and all you'll have to do is pay to prevent it...you know, just like with the Kindle.

Well, to get rid of this latest piece of obnoxiousness, hit Windows+I, choose apps> apps and features and scroll down the list to "Spotify" , click on it and choose Uninstall.

Even better Doc would be to use a Dedicated Uninstaller (plenty of them about) as Windows built in Uninstaller has never really been any good at doing the job fully and correctly, leaves lots of bits and bobs , dedicated ones do not and are more up to the job, especially since its something you do not want lingering around in any form as like many PUPs.

That is the one i use Doc, does a much better job than the Windows lame attempt at an uninstaller. You would think MS after all these years would realise the one included in Windows OSs is crap to say the least and do something about it.

Wise uninstaller is also very good, i have Wise Care 365 as it is part of the suite.

Seeing as these days, more and more Programs and apps leave behind stuff that can interfere with say updates, including Stardock stuff, as per many other topics in the forum, using these kind of tools may remove the need for users to use The Purge we often see listed as a possible solution.
