Curtains 1.2 Changelog

  • Groupy now excludes Microsoft store as now has very custom titlebar area
  • Fixed issue with Groove Music player not showing the back button correctly
  • This should fix the background on the Win10 taskbar weather widget in the very latest Win10 release.

Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

  • Just a note that Curtains is still Windows 10 only, no support is yet available for Windows 11.

I am running Curtains on a Windows 11 machine (it started out as Windows 10 and I installed the free upgrade).  There are no issues that I've found.

Is there any way to bypass the message so I can install it on a new Windows 11 PC?

Curtains does not work properly on Windows 11.

You should remove it.

All that is working is applying a wallpaper, a system wide colour and caption buttons in some skins.

If you have Start11 it would also apply the taskbar, but only if you have Start11.

I do have Start 11.  Maybe I don't use Curtains to its fullest and don't notice what isn't working.  I'll grab some screenshots and post them later.

Does Curtains  work on Windows 1 yet?

Unfortunately due to changes in how Windows 11 works it is not possible for Curtains to change the title bar on Windows 11 other than the min/max/close buttons which is why we have not made a version for Windows 11.

Is skinning the Title Bar the only thing Curtains can't do on Windows 11?  If everything else works, why not release it with that caveat?

I think now that groupy 2 is a thing Stardock now has a lot more leeway to develop software for Windows. I can see a lot more customization possibilities with groupy 2 plugged in.

Of course all of this work to get things running comes at the need for groupy 2 and Windowblinds 11 and all other windows 11 software to actually be compatible with Windows 12. Hopefully Microsoft doesn't deviate too much with their next release because Windows 12 will be important for Stardock since this will also be the time Windows 10 loses support.

I removed Groupy a while ago because it was combining windows when I didn't want it to.  (My fault, but still annoying.)  Just installed Groupy 2, to play with it again.

This was my mindset as well which is why I installed Groupy 2, but Win 11 File Explorer now has tabs, and well, we all know what happened to Curtains...>:(

So Curtains will be for Windows 11 ? or not ? because on 2024 will be Windows 12.

Last time I checked, Curtains not skinning the titlebar meant titlebar missing completely.  That's been a while, so, who knows.

I never removed Curtains from my Win10->11 laptop.  It does some interesting things with explorer backgrounds but I see a Title Bar.
