Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

Start 11 is not working with the dev channel update just released.. jk. Actually this is a nice quick fix, I think start 11 is now working on the windows preview channel better then it ever has before. Let's hope Microsoft is done playing.

Side note for Windows 11 Insider users: Anyone that is using the registry key, "OldTaskbarOn11" will need to delete that key to regain control of "show seconds on taskbar clock" otherwise it works.

When a notification pops up in the tray from an application it originally pops up on the right side where the tray icons are. But if that notification is still showing and you right click a pinned taskbar icon to view the jump list, it moves the notification to where the jumplist shows. This was happening in the 1.22 stable also. See picture below.

One additional thing, when right clicking a pinned tray icon for a jump list, the jump list loads, but there is a high spike in CPU usage which causes CPU cooling fan to spike to high RPMs. See the 4 core usage below of me just right clicking two different icons for jump lists. Also picture beiow

This is on Windows 11 stable latest public release/winver of 22000.652

After updating these programs and Windows 11, I installed Start11_1.23-j190-Setup_sd.exe and at the very end of the installation Windows 11 crashed, but start11 v. 1.23 seems to work normally so far. Windows 11 Pro, version: 21H2, build: 22000.675

Hi

I am still getting this problem with certain apps (many inc Settings, Edge, Lightroom) where the App Window opens with its top egde against teh top of the montor and a taskbar sized gap at the boottom. The problem is that the top end is covered up by Start 11 taskbar (if at top) and one can't access file menus or minimise etc. Or grab the top of teh app to move to a second monitor

See pics of bpottom and top (in this case iwth Settings window)

I am on latest Win 11 Insider Beta

Thank you

Testing out the seconds on the clock option (which I love! thank you for adding this) and I'm seeing the tray icons move around when the seconds value changes to a less-wide character like a 1.

See below for an animated gif of the issue (need to wait until 51 seconds).

clock ticks causing icon jumps

Start 11 Version: 1.23 Beta

Windows Version: 22H2 (OS Build 22621.1)

If you open say notepad and maximize it, does it go under the taskbar at the top?

If you resize the taskbar to two rows and then back to one does this stop this issue with maximized notepad?

If not are you running any other software that might impact the taskbar or reserve space for itself?

Bizarely- it seems to work OK now. All I did was right click on Edge in teh Start 11 Menu. Select Properties. Then select run as normal window. Notepad also works. Weird

But I do get this on both my desktop and SP8. If you hover over an icon in the taskbar (in this case Google Photos) it highlights a differnt app. And if you click the icon- it will open up the highlighted (wrong) app. In this case What's app. Seems to be a misalignment

Windows has just imposingly updated to build 22616.1 on my system and it caused a lot of issues with Start11 v1.22. I've just switched to version 1.23 and am glad to say most things are now working as i'd expect, however there are two issues to report:

- to second what someone in this thread already mentioned, when coming in and out of some fullscreen applications or restarting explorer, the taskbar leaves behind a gap at the bottom of the screen as it's being moved to the top when Start11 kicks in, which pushes all other windows up out of bounds; the easiest way to fix this at the moment seems to be to enable the 'allow the taskbar to be resized' option and dragging the edge forth and back, as this triggers it to refresh and apparently in so doing reminds the bottom of the screen that there is in fact no taskbar there

- when the 'taskbar size' option is set to small, the start button is not vertically centred

Thanks for the update. I am glad the transparent Taskbar is back, but there is a slight issue with it. Prior to this the taskbar was completely invisible apart from the icons. Now there is a line at the top of the taskbar indicating the top of it. Its very thin, but would it be possible to go back to how it was before with that line removed as well?

Thanks.

The current beta build has been updated from 1.23 to 1.24.  Please see the changelog:

https://forums.stardock.com/512285/get;3851201

You will not be prompted to update so you will have to do so manually and ensure you reboot once installed.

Thanks again for all your feedback.
