Pin/Save Tiles

extend pin functionality to tiles that are not added as shortcut

I'm new to Tiles and hopefully the feature I'm looking for is only overlooked by me. But if this feature does not exist, please add it!

If I add a tile by dragging a file or shortcut to the list, the shortcut is pinned, which means that even if I do not open it or after I close it, it is still availabe.

This is unlike tiles that are added by dragging (Shift drag) their title bar to the list. Of course, there is a workaround by dragging the specific files or a shortcut of these files to the list, but I would like to have the option to pin them as well.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I don't really understand what you're requesting. Can you elaborate on this more.

Thanks

Okay, tanks for you reply. I'll try to explain it better.

Note: I have Tiles 2, the trial version.

Try this:

Option 1:

  1. Open an application, for example Notepad.
  2. Shift-Drag the title bar to the Tiles page to create a shortcut.
  3. Close Notepad. Now you will see that the Notepad shortcut disappears from the Tiles page.

Option 2:

  1. Look for Notepad.exe in Windows Explorer.
  2. Drag it to the Tiles page to create a shortcut.
  3. Click on the shortcut to open Notepad.
  4. Close Notepad. Now you will see that the shortcut is still there on the Tiles page.

The difference is that in option 1 the application is only available on the Tiles page as long as the application runs. It is not (permanently) pinned as in option 2.

What I would like is that option 1 would have the same result as option 2.

I hope this explanation helps.

Regards, James

If you want to pin a specific file to Tiles. You can Click and Drag a file via your File Explorer to Tiles. That should pin it to tiles.

Thank you,

@basj, thank you for the reply. I knew this, it is a variant of option 2. But I still wish option 1 would suffice, because this is often more convenient for me.
