Hi Neil,

I'm using 1.17 now and it's great.
Small issue (1)... When "hidden icons" are shown...
1. clicking on empty taskbar (place marked) DOES NOT HIDE the "hidden icons" panel
2. clicking on desktop hides the panel, ok
3. clicking on any open program tile (on taskbar) hides the panel, ok
4. clicking on any "taskbar corner icon" hides the panel, ok

The issue is small and does not bother me much,
I'm just used to cancel/hide the panel this way.

This is a Windows 11 beta/dev channel issue, since it happens to me on a PC that does not have Start11 installed.

I just tested this, I can confirm it happens on Build 22000.556.

Just installed 1.17, Win 10 mode. I added a couple of fences from my desktop to the start bar, noticed they didn't collapse, and I could not see the second one, so I deleted one, but cannot delete the first one I added. I see the confirmation prompt appear very quickly and then go away along with the startbar.

I'm now using 1.17 beta and wonder if my problem described in Post #134 will be fixed in a following beta version or in version 1.2?

In 1.17 the problem is still existing.

Hi there,

The taskbar ungrouping is superb!!!  Thank you so much for implementing this!

I am having a type size issue on the start screen tiles (the ones without custom images).  Some of the longer single line tile names have the last letter cut off; and in general the type is a bit too big for my taste - on two line tile names, the top line hits the icon image (see images below).  I am on a 4K monitor (two actually), so this might be contributing to the problem.

Windows display scaling is set at 150%

Start11 settings:
Windows 10 Style Start Menu
Tile size: Medium
Type size: 120%

The tile size and the type size seem interrelated - if I make the type size smaller (say set it back to 100%), the tiles get smaller.  If I then make the tiles bigger (go from Medium to Large) to get the tile size I want, the type gets bigger too.

Let me know if there is any more info I can provide.

Minor glitch.  I noticed a couple times when I clicked on the start button it didn't respond.  Easily reproduced.

With taskbar enhancements enabled, start button is in lower left corner, approach the start button on the right monitor from the left and from the left monitor, and click.  Doesn't respond.

Beta Version 1.17

Expanding on this...  In fact none of the task bar buttons on the right monitor taskbar respond until you exit the taskbar area and return to it.

Hi, I would imagine that the issue that I'm having is related to this issue.  For websites installed as Chrome Progressive Web Apps (PWA), the icons on the taskbar are regular Chrome icons instead of the ones belonging to the appropriate PWA.

The Chrome Icon on the left is my regular Chrome installation, and the Chrome icon on the right is the PWA for Messages for Web.  This also happens for other Chrome PWAs.

Stardock,

Could you please bring back the Win10 option to always show all taskbar icons rather than having to go into "taskbar corner overflow" and enabling each individually.  Even MS can't do this right as every time you update an app you have to re-enable it.

Thanks

Are these pinned?

Also you seem to use grouped mode? What happens if you are in ungrouped mode?

Windows 11 Pro 21H2 22000.556

Start11 v1.16 - Windows 10 style

Let Start11 enhance the taskbar - on (I think)

Taskbar buttons should be combined - whatever is default

Unfortunately, I found the v1.2 beta unusable and had to revert to v1.11 (hence, uncertain about a couple of the above settings). The main reason is that it doesn't cope with a hidden taskbar, which has always been by normal setting in Windows.

> v1.16 - With Hide Taskbar selected, when moving the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen, the taskbard does not appear at all. The Start menu was only available by pressing the keyboard Start button.
> v1.11 - There is also an issue with hidden taskbar in this version. When moving the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen in the region of the system tray, the taskbar does not appear. This was actually a bug in Windows 11 itself during the beta stage but was fixed prior to the final release.

Other issues I have with v1.11 relating to the Windows 10 style menu that remain in v1.16..

> When opening a grouped Start menu folder, scrolling through the menu becomes inhibited. If the group is near the top of the menu, scrolling is frozen. If the group is near the bottom of the visible menu, scrolling then shifts the menu to hide whatever was below it, and is then frozen.
> The thumbnail icons on the group folder are in random order and don't reflect the order the icons appear inside the group. So for example, I see a programme I want that appears first on the group folder and so when I open the folder I expect to move my cursor to the first item, but instead, it could be anywhere. As far as I'm aware, in Windows 10 itself, the thumbnail order on the folder is always the same as the icon order within the group.
> Some issues getting the correct icons to appear for certain menu items, most of which I could work around by altering the associated shortcuts. But for iCloud (for me, I just want iCloud Shared Albums), there doesn't seem any way of getting an icon to appear in the Start11 menu, I just get an empty grey box.

Despite the issues, I am generally impressed with Start11 and it is really the only reason I was able to comfortably upgrade to Windows 11. Hopefully some or all of the above issues can be addressed, particularly the hidden taskbar issues, or else I will have to remain on v1.11.

Just to confirm, hidden taskbar does now work again in v1.17, but the prior problem remains in that if the mouse cursor is in the area of the system tray, the taskbar does not pop up.

The other previous issues also remain regarding scrolling after opening a folder group, thumnail icon order, and menu icons for some programs such as iCloud.

Quoting ProtocolX,

When I turn on "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar", my open applications are no longer on the taskbar.
When I turn it off, my open applications return.

Is this normal?

No.  What version of Windows 11 are you using?

Windows 11 64-bit 21H2 (OS Build 22000.588)

FWIW this is still an issue for me as of Start11 v1.17beta

Had to go back to EP for taskbar support,

Start11 taskbar management crashes explorer at least once a day, usually when alt-tabbing out of FSE games.

Uninstall, reboot, reinstall as it sounds like the files were not replaced correctly.

The issue was resolved in 1.17 and was caused by having multiple monitors and having Windows set to only show one taskbar or using DisplayFusion to provide secondary monitor taskbar.

I am also still having this problem and currently using the Taskbar enabled on both displays as a workaround, but would really prefer taskbar only on main monitor

Have tried uninstallling and reinstalling and restarting explorer but this still occurs if I go to one monitor only.

Are you using 1.16 or 1.17 as 1.17 should have resolved that.

None that I see, there are crash dumps though.

Are you using WinDBG to capture them?  If so, could you post a shared link to a cloud service upload you have done?

Hi guys.

Would you be able to do 2 things for us  pls ?

1. Make a taskbar size between small and medium? To me medium is too thick and small is too thin(with small the date in the right corner is not shown properly as it's partially hidden)

2. Can you make the taskbar to function the way that if you have stuff opened there(chrome etc), and you have your mouse pointer at the bottom of the window you can't click on it as if you were clicking below it. Basically can you extent the size of the "items" on the taskbar so it fill the taskbar all the way to the bottom, the same way as the start button?

Thanks

Gabriel

Start 11 v1.17, Windows 11 22000.556, Windows 10 style taskbar - issues with the Start, Widget and Search buttons on a Surface Laptop Studio- the buttons are responsive to touch input when using fingers, but not when using the Surface Pen. All's ok if "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar" is disabled

Are the taskbar buttons themselves ok?
