Error after V0.81 Update unable to load game

I went to play the new V 0.81 and when I tried to load the game after update I get this error now.

I tried the following:

1. Verify files and relaunch game

2. reboot computer and relaunch game

3. Delete game, reinstall game, relaunch game

4. Delete game, rebooted, reinstall game, relaunch game

Nothing has worked..... Have any ideas?

Hmm, this sounds like a permissions error. Can you try loading EGS and GalCiv under admin?

I just received this same error.

Maybe I shouldn't do this, but I only have one user account on my laptop so it is the admin account.

hmm how do I load it under admin? Normally I right click the icon on desktop and select run as and admin. Do not have that option with GC4.

Well I was able to run epic as admin with no luck.

Not an Epic thing I would guess... I just reinstalled GC4 Live V0.77 and it loaded up with no issues. I only get the error with Test V 0.81.

OK, somehow reinstalling Live GC4 and loading it fixed Test GC4 and I am now able to play.

Me too, you have to whitelist Galciv4.exe in your antivirus.

OK something in V 0.81 triggered this error. To get Test to load I had to create an exception in my antivirus to get the game to load. I still can load live v 0.77b without the need for an exception.

This can be caused by a 3rd party program.

Either whitelist the game with any anti-virus installed or with Controlled folder access.

I am fine and use a 0.80 game file .

Another suggestion

Go to \Documents\My Games and rename the folder GalCiv4 to something else, like GalCiv4Old

I found what did it for me, it was my anti virus program causing the error, so i made an exception for the game in my anti virus program and everything is fine again.

This can be caused by a 3rd party program.

So you're saying that third party software that worked fine with the previous version broke your update?

i have the same problem

I had the same problem, it turned out to be my anti virus, so i made an exception in the anti virus program and now it works fine.

And for some of us...

How to do that for Avast?

The launcher is allowed and GCIV doesn't have a listing in active or inactive programs.

Edit:

Error code is: LS-0013

Here are the instructions from Avast on how to exclude files.

Malheureusement toujours le même soucis. Même en administrateur et même avec le paramétrage de l'antivirus.
