  • Version change to 1.11
1/31/2022
  • Version change to 1.1.1.1
  • Includes new 64-bit service (next version)
  • Tweak which may help incorrect positioning of Win10/11 style menu for some people (unsure as it may hit only one possible cause)
  • Tweak to hopefully help the KM app issue, but this needs some testing for those not using KM to ensure nothing funny is showing up with clicking on centered start button on Win11:
    https://forums.stardock.com/508761/start11---barrier-kvm-screen-switching
  • Tweak for always on top taskbar in Win11 dev
  • Tweak to stop secondary taskbar getting 'stuck' too big and also too big when put into small mode
    • Users may have to change the size to another size and back again for it to take effect
  • Tweak to fix time/date positioning on Win11 secondary taskbar in insider builds when small taskbar mode
  • Tweak so unpinning an item from S11 doesn't trigger it to remove all shortcuts with that target from all S11 menu types
  • Clicking above/below a scrollbar in the menu now scrolls
  • Fix for square image painting on jumplist for Win7/modern style when on Win10 when you could pin / unpin an item instead of the correct icon
1/14/2022
  • The option to always make the menu center aligned regardless of where the start button was positioned (as long as it was set to center) wasn't working when you clicked on it.

After installing the latest downloaded version of Start11 on Windows 11x64 Pro 21H2 (OS Build 22000.526), the version number still shows the Beta version number.  Programs and Features shows it as 1.1.1.1

I've tried turning off notifications and an old registry change but neither works. So I'm assuming that it's part of start 11 but I could be wrong I have to shake the mouse to make it go away because they interfere with the toolbar that they are covering.

Thanks

Is there a change log for new releases? I'm curious what's updated in the latest release and don't see a change log anywhere.

Because nothing changed from the beta to the release - unusual but not unheard of.

Those are nothing to do with Start11.

They come from the Windows taskbar.

AS per the image below, where has the "All Apps" gone?

EDIT: Deleted my settings in profile and in programdata folders, clean install and problem has been fixed

Edition: Windows 11 Pro
OS build: 22000.493

Version 1.11 not working as expected. The Start11 menu will still not open by mouse click to the taskbar start button. However, the Start11 menu does work when pressing the windows button on my keyboard.

One thing I noticed - If after reboot, I restart explorer.exe. the Start11 menu does appear to then function OK.

Have purged and reinstalled. Twice.

Would like to suggest Cleanboot, if it is not tried yet, see if there is conflicting application with Start11 : https://forums.stardock.com/505872/start11-support-faq#cleanboot. Try and report back.

Thank you,

Thank you - logged in under a clean boot and yes, Start11 appears to work after numerous reboots under a new Admin account. So, really not sure what the conflicting application could be.

Away from the clean boot environment, I can only think that the service is not running correctly at start up, even though it is set to automatic. Running the https://cdn.stardock.us/support/uploads/StartStart10_11.zip file does kick Start11 into life in my regular Admin account.

Upgraded to this version today. Changed taskbar size from medium to small, clicked to restart explorer. Explorer goes into a restart loop. Setting the taskbar size back to medium brings it back.

The "Tool Tip/Balloon Tip" in your pic is displayed by the Windows OS when you hover your mouse over the blank space at the far right side of the taskbar (to the right of the Time and Date). Not sure why you are getting this in the middle of your screen. I don't think Start 11 is causing this by itself, but there could be a conflict with another third party utility and Start 11 which is causing this issue. This does not happen on either of my systems. I run Start 11 on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. I don't use any third party utilities, other then Start 11, to alter the taskbar or Start menu.

I cant seem to reproduce what you are detailing?

Are you perhaps using something like DisplayFusion (or the like) to manage multiple monitors?  If so, please test without.

After starting my computer W11 Home today I got a Hard Error explorer.exe.  Could that be associated with new version?

There should be an option to hide the caption on a Start tile without picking a custom image. I want to leave the default icons, but I don't want to have the text caption on the bottom.

Not as of yet. I powered off completely after running  sfc /scannow and it isn't appearing. Fingers crossed.

I don't know what it's called but when you click on a letter on the start menu it makes and index panel.

Please make the font on the index panel a bit larger and arrange it in 4 even columns of 7 instead of 5 columns with 5 full rows and two missing from the sixth row.

Please! this is also bugging me!

On win11 start style is not centered and the font used is not consistent with the rest of the menu

Windows version 22557.1 (aka latest DEV build) seems to be fully compatible with start 11
