Start 11 - Fences Roll-Up

Hello,

I am loving the new update, awesome to finally have folders back and at some point I must have missed the Fences integration because that is even better for me but ... I can't seem to see a way of rolling the fences up, does this exist in the current builds or would it be a possible feature update?

Hello,

You should able to activate roll up/down when you double click on the Fences titlebar. Please refer to the screenshot below.

So on the desktop that works and I have that setup currently. But in Start11 when you insert a Fence it is fully expanded. Is there a setting so that double clicking on the Fence in Start11 will roll it up?

Which Start11 style are you using? Could you post a screen capture of those Fences on your Start11 menu.

Thank you,

Hello,

Sorry for the late response. Start11 is the latest available 1.1, Fences is latest available 4.0.0.3.

In the attached screenshot you can see my one Fence. Double clicking on the header or next to it does not roll up the Fence.

I don't think there is an option for Fences to roll up while it is in Start11 panel. It can roll up and down when they on the desktop. Anyway, I have forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Fence integration is brand new, and I like that feature myself. I do like the thinking of having it integrated further and new ideas are always welcomed here

I am not sure if the roll up feature would mesh well with the start 11 set up. While it could be argued that the tabbed pages can each hold a separate fence and that could fix it. Perhaps others that really like the tabbed look the roll up provides and want a more similar look. An idea I would have that goes with the start 11 design would be to make the fence dock have separate tabs.

For example it would look like this.

[fence name 1] [fence name 2] [fence name 3]

Each fence name could be clicked to open a separate on screen fence in an otherwise always open menu.

The idea sounds good to me as a compromise of merging the two different styles. I guess the question would then be, is it overkill to have a secondary tab feature or is it better to have just one fence page. Fences is an add on integration after all.
