Yes I know that. But I have noticed only a few here actually tend to react to me in this way.

I start these theads as a way to take my mind off life. I love seeing different peoples ideas. Yes, I sometimes do not agree with their ideas and say so. I should learn to be quiet I guess.

I can not see how anyone can own and drive a car/truck/bike/boat and not know how to fix the damn thing or at least know what part is needed when it breaks down..?

We [Oz] once had a company called 'Sidchrome'.....made tools....excellent tools.....guaranteed for LIFE [not a finite time, but FOREVER]....then they were bought by a US company that got all panicky about 'unconditional warranty' and revised 'forever' to mean '100 years' [the Yanks are always messing with language]....and now I believe they even renegged on that as well. Buy a company and you bloody-well buy the commitment and responsibility....[sods]...

In terms of hand tools, I prefer Craftsman for their quality and lifetime replacement guarantee. I think Milwaukee makes the best power tools, however. I've seen their cordless drills drop 2 floors onto concrete and suffer little more than a scratch. Both are made in the USA, of course. You know how we "Yanks" are about American tools.

MikeB yep on the Milwaukee for sure. I have screw guns, hammer drills, drills, and two saws of which the oldest is over 24 years and all that has been done to any of them is replace brushes, cords and triggers. They used to get used everyday, though I haven't been in construction on a regular basis for 11 years.

I 've a mix and match of Snap-On, MAC, SK and Craftsman all f which carry good warrenty.

Can't really say what the "best" tool manufacturer is.  It totally depends on what type of tool it is (power, air, sockets, wrenches, etc.)  We have a mixture of all sorts of tools depending on what is needed (and some from specialty manufacturers, too.)  However, Craftsman tools are easy to get replaced with their warranty (as I know from bringing in pockets full of sockets a few times a year).  I don't think that they are bad sockets, I just think my hubby gets a little over ambitious with his wrenching

Also it's best to use a 6 instead of a 12 point when dealing with anything that has tourqe on it

who here like reverse wheel studs? I remember the first time I ran into them was on my 1969 RoadRunner... Got a flat and could not get the lug to turn so I put my foot on the star and popped it down a couple of time and PINK! being drunk it took two more before it hit me that they were reverse
