Stardock announced the upcoming October 7th update for Start11, a program that allows users to customize the Windows Start menu and taskbar. As with previous editions of StartX products, Start11 allows users to restore the Start menu to appear as it does in previous versions of Windows, as well as customize and enhance its functionality.

“We put the first beta out quickly in order to regain some of the lost functionality from the Windows 11 Start menu,” said Brad Wardell, Stardock CEO. “For this release, we’ve added several new Start menu layouts to choose from, restored context menu functionality, enabled repositioning of the taskbar, plus one of our users’ favorite features: Fences integration.”

Start11 is designed for Windows 11 and Windows 10 and comes loaded with features intended to make Windows more productive and personal. Start11 supports moving the Start button to the middle or to the left, adjusting the taskbar size, re-ordering quick access shortcut lists, options for adjusting grid spacing, enhanced classic and modern search experiences, and much more.

For users who want to personalize their Start menu, Start11 offers robust customization options ranging from aesthetic to functional. The software enables enhanced Windows 10 and Windows 11 style Start menus, a compact Windows 7 design, optional Windows 11 style for classic menus, and many additional settings that let you configure your personalized Start menu.

“The new UI has been designed to support additional Start menu enhancements,” said Wardell. “Start8 and Start10 focused on restoring previous versions of the Start menu. Start11 extends this to support a host of new Start menu ideas such as the concept of pages, minimalism, and features for our enterprise customers.”

The Start11 beta is currently available for $4.99

It is now October 7th...the download link is to the same Start11_0.55-j26-Setup.exe that was there on October 1st.

Was the file posted sooner than the announcement said it would be, or is there a newer file that has not yet been linked?

You are a little early.  There will be another forum post when it is live, this was just the preannouncement that says it is coming on the 7th at somepoint.

The Windows 11 style menu is available for Windows 10 users in Start11 already.

What do you mean by dock?  You can already centre the taskbar buttons (though not the start button) on Windows 10 with Start11.

Ah it was a browser issue actually, switching allowed me to land on a page with a price of €5 instead of €6.

I prefer the vertical taskbar on the left as well. I doubt Stardock will get this feature into Start11, but I don't have any inside knowledge of their efforts on taskbar customization either. I just say that I doubt it since Microsoft went to such effort to screw up their taskbar in the first place, that I think rather than try to salvage or extend the stock taskbar, it's best to use a taskbar replacement.

I use DisplayFusion's taskbars to create a vertical taskbar where the StartMenu button is in the lower left-hand corner. So DisplayFusion is my taskbar replacement and Start11 is my StartMenu replacement (actually I'm switching back and forth between Start11 and StartAllBack while we all roll with the punches of Windows 11's rocky roll out).
