Dx 11 or 12? Multi thread support?

Greetings Stardock,

I see in the faq that GCIV will be DX 11 or higher.

Which is more optimal DX11 or DX12?

I ask because while Civ VI can be either it runs better on 11.

I had thought that DX12 was new and can off load workloads from the CPU or more enabled multi gpu's from different cards, (assuming you had a two or three video card setup).

I may be WAY off on my understanding which is why I am posting/asking this.

I assume the superior Stardock game development of utilizing many threads will be the standard....

I was wondering the same!

Wouldn't DX12 or Vulkan offer more flexibility toward the future than sticking with DX11?  Wouldn't most hardware sold in the last 5 years counting from today support such APIs anyway?

Vulcan support would be nice too.

It's looking like DX11.  We are evaluating DX12.  Cari has been reworking the underlying engine a lot reducing not just turn times but things like game within a game (it's basically instant now).

Likely still more CPU intensive than GPU intensive...   I am curious about how much of Brad's Threadripper it can make use of...

A good large map game in GCIII could take me a very long time to finish which is why as Brad wrote most people gave up on the Exterminate aspect.. they knew they would win so they went to the next.    Hopefully the story elements fix that aspect.
