Dead Planet and Kiln of Worlds

Hey,

Just started a multiplayer game with a friend and we both are playing for the first time, so bare with me if what I'm asking is complete idiotism.

I have a few dead planets next to my starting planet and I just researched Xeno Artifacts. It says that it should unlock Kiln of Worlds Center, which I should be able to use to bring a dead planet back to life. How exactly do I build this center and how to use it?

You should be able to upgrade the artifact as though it was a planet improvement. Some can be upgraded unlimited amount of times, while others are finite.

On the main map, you should have a list of artifacts you control on the right side of the screen. You should be able to click one of those to get more information. More information should appear in the bottom left. If it has 1 or more charges, you can activate the artifact.

Thanks for the reply!

The only artifact I have I currently have is Chimeric Biomass. When I click it it has 3 options: Go to Colony, Cancel and Use Artifact (no charges), but I don't see an option to upgrade it. If I go to colony, there isn't one there either, just an option to destroy a building (Chimeric Biomass Study). Am I doing something completely wrong?

You can research techs to unlock upgrades for artifacts. Try looking under colonization and take the Xeno Artifact Studies route (the bottom route).

I did research the technology Xeno Artifact Studies which is supposed to unlock the Kiln of Worlds special improvement. Is there something else I need to research there? (I also have researched the Xeno Archeology if that's required)

Well, I've did a bunch of quick starts, and in each case I was able to upgrade the planet improvements without needing to research any techs.

You do know how to upgrade planet improvements? Double clicking the planet tile is one way. Another way is to look at the list of planet improvements and pick the one that will upgrade the desired planet improvement.

First you must find an existing Kiln of Worlds. Like other special resources and artifacts you can find on planets, you can only upgrade what you find.

Oh. I assumed that they had Kiln of Worlds artifact. I thought they knew you had own the artifact first.

No, you can't upgrade artifacts you don't own. Like other planet resources, you can only upgrade what you own.
