You need the software to make it work. But, assuming you downloaded the program windowblinds and a theme and now you are trying to apply the theme, double click the downloaded theme, and it should extract itself to the proper folder. Give it a second or two to finish, then, you need to open Display properties by right clicking the desktop and choosing properties, go to the appearance tab and look for the theme under windows and buttons. Select a theme and then click apply. Wahla.

There are two types of Desktop mods with various other additions you can add as you like.

Themes = You have to download and install DesktopX
Skins = You have to download and install WIndowBlinds, for XP ver 4
Icons = Download and install IconPacker
Cursors = Download CursorXP

and so on...

pick what you like and load it up after installing the programs you need.

Object Desktop comes with Iconpackager silly Lion. lol. You must mean CursorXP. It's a nice addition to Object Desktop.
