Is it possible to limit uploads

I have been told WC needs more high res wallpapers and dreams.

I may agree to that. But....

We have been flooded with uploads in those two areas, to the point that many very good

art works are not in view for more than a day or two.

ALSO: Most are only borrowed art works, not from WC members.

Are we alienating our members? I have heard we are.

I think it's a good idea to ask for votes to put a limit on uploads to no more than 2 a week.

Thankz

Agreed

I somewhat agree Sed, but I feel that no more than 4 a week per member would be best, and only if they are the originals of the submitter.

It's strange most of the wallpapers I've seen here are wallpapers that I've had for years or that I've see on other wallpaper sites. There should be some explanation on how this is possible.

I remember getting demoted for submitting too often and they were all my original works. Why are they allowing stuff from other sites? What sizes are needed? I have lots of stuff I never completed. Lost interest during my cancer battle and after Jazzi and Gary passed away. (Cancer free for 5 years next month)

So great to hear! <3

I miss your submissions.... :'( One of my all time favourite wallpapers that I've used, and still do, on my PC, laptop, tablet & phone, Indigo Moon:

And back to topic, I agree. The gallery should only have original works by the uploaders and a weekly limit of 2-4 submissions seems ok.

Yes Tom... Any limited number of uploads is good - It has to regulated

Sounds like a plan, Sed!    Frankie, it would be great if you made some more walls, I miss seeing them also.  Wallpaper sizes.....      4096x2160 4K ,  3840x2160 UHD,  1920x1080 HD,  1366x768 Laptop .  Thanks for listing them in your uploads Sed.

So most of the renders in my folder were done at 3840 x 2160. I could do that and the two lower.

Those sizes still can be FIT or STRETCHED on your personalize settings to look just fine.

Those sizes are excellent for 99% of all users. The most common resolutions world wide for desktop computers & laptops are 1920x1080 & 1366x768.

You can check out all the sizes for various devices here: Screen Resolution Stat Counter

There are lots of possibilities to customize the charts on the Stat Counter pages.

I addressed our wallpapers back in March.

https://forums.wincustomize.com/499091/

With online integration of WC into our apps, and even cooler things ahead, it is important for WC to have a strong wallpaper gallery (both animated and stills).

In the month before this project started (February), there were only 25 wallpaper uploads in that month, and 6 in January.  Many of these were similar in styles. Nothing wrong with that, but that's not enough to be a competitive gallery with other apps that are doing similar things.

We needed to curate the gallery and that included bringing in wallpapers under allowable licenses. I will look at not trying to flood the galleries, but for right now we're not implementing any types of limits. The goal is a well-rounded wallpaper gallery, and everyone can help with that. :)

As far as resolutions goes, we're going to be looking at that as well. From discussions it seems just uploading two of the biggest aspect ratios and letting the OS resize might be the best way going forward.

I really dislike the way the gallery is with WC_Bot and other uploads you can easily find and even better with a Google search. What's the point in flooding the gallery with photos you can find absolutely everywhere?

WC Bot is not doing the flooding

And I take sometimes weeks to create something good enough for WC

and it is only  visable for a day or two because of it.

WC Bot and other uploads, or the OP's question wouldn't have been raised in the first place, or? The reason I said it like that, is that I didn't want to name other uploaders by name. WC Bot or Wincustomize Bot (if I'm not mistaken) uploads, imho, are only taking up space and do nothing that benefit the wallpaper gallery.

I remember a similar predicament with the Object Dock gallery when the backgrounds were being overrun by the icons.  Ultimately the two were split into different galleries.  Perhaps the same approach could be used here, say something like "Wallpapers" and "Wallpaper Boutique", etc.  Just a thought.

Or Wallpaper and Dream since they ARE two different things

I meant split each into a high-volume gallery and a low-volume gallery, Wallpapers and Wallpapers Boutique, Dreams and Dreams Boutique.
