Tutorial needed for Windows Explorer background transparency

How do I adjust Windows Explorer background transparency?

I see what may be the adjustments for Windows Explorer background transparency, BUT I can't get anything to edit or change. I've tried clicking on various parts of the GUI and aside from sometimes highlighting something, I can't seem to get anything change by either clicking on something or trying to type in a numerical value. I'm definitely in the edit mode for a certain Curtain style. I don't know if I'll even like the transparency effect, but I'd at least like to see what it's like. Please publish a tutorial; thanks.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Here is how you turn and adjust it. Curtains config -> Edit style -> Windows tab-> Advance Property -> scroll down to Explorer background blur mode -> Drop down menu ->Choose blur type and change those within that section colors and transparency level active and inactive mode and also there are different sections between Dark and light mode. Click "apply changes" button to see the changes.

Thank you,

Basi,

Thanks for replying. The very screen image you've provided is the very one I was referring to. Curtains sent me a notification (a window that appeared on my desktop) that there was a Curtains update, which I installed. However, after the update (and restarting my computer), none of the adjustments in the Edit>Advanced Properties window work. I can click on one of the items in the left column to highlight it, but nothing in the right column (including the tiny down arrows) work. I'm unable to click or type in any values. That's the point I was trying to make in my original post.

Just in case you're doing it in the wrong order, you do need to change "Explorer background blur mode" to something other than "Disabled" before any of the other settings will accept input.

That is strange, I assume you have set what Dave mentioned above and still you have problem? If yes, We need more information on your system.

  1. Windows version. Please use Winver.exe for full Windows version numbers.
  2. Fences version, what version you used to have and what version you have now on your system?
  3. and have you try this? : Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/500728/curtains-support-faq#CurtainsPurge. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Thanks for your reply. That did the trick. I just needed to "enable". Oops. Sorry for not noticing the obvious first.

Basj, Thanks for your reply. I somehow overlooked the obvious first. I "enabled" editing and now can adjust the transparency. I'd mistakenly thought the update had not fully installed correctly. My mistake. Thanks for your efforts to assist me.

Good, glad it was something simple.

No need to feel bad about it, obviously it is something I suspected a person might do. ;)

I have exactly the same. I can not set any kind of blur.

If you're talking about the Explorer window background blur, you need to set the "Explorer background blur mode" to something other than "Disabled".

What you just wrote is the basics. But after enabling this specific option I still get nothing. That's the problem.

I think the problem is related with Graphic driver.

Please try to purge and reinstall step as mentioned here : https://forums.stardock.com/500728/curtains-support-faq#CurtainsPurge . Make sure to re-download the latest version available. Reboot after the purge and reinstall using the latest version you just downloaded. Reboot again. Retest and report back.
