Never bright mode

Settings should make sense

When changing themes,  Curtains likes to revert to light mode.

I have to wait for it to load and blind me THEN chang to proper dark mode.

I know some people seem to like light displays... do they also enjoy staring into spotlights?

Don't ever change my setting from dark to light.  Ever.

I haven't played with this setting but it looks like unchecking it might do what you're wanting (?):

BRAVO!

I tested this by

1. Unchecking the "Set style light / dark mode"

2. Downloaded "Double Gradient by Niel Barield" which appears which a white thumbnail.

3. Applied.

4. It's still in dark mode.

Tested with several others,  so far so good.

Stardock:  This setting says "recommended" but clearly it should not.

The setting is recommended because a style has its own settings and may only be designed for light or dark mode.

What mode you select in a style is saved for the user, so if you make a style dark then the next time you pick it you still get dark.  Likewise if your OS is set to dark and the style doesn't specify a preference then you will end up with dark still.

I recommend putting the setting right on the "dark/light" option.

  • Dark
  • Light
  • Dark ONLY
  • Light ONLY

Many of us dark screen people do not like to ever see bright screens.

And NOBODY wants to dig through settings for something that could and should be right on the interface.

If I have to google or ask on the forums,  it is designed wrong.

Ghosters...I am at a loss as to why you would post 5 threads all seemingly related to the UI of the Curtains program.

Surely all related queries would be best served in the one thread where Support would not otherwise lose continuity of what is being replied to.

All five appear to be straight complaints as to how you think an interface should be, which is at odds with how it currently is.

To that end I think 4 should be closed so all future communication related to the GUI is in one place only...;)

I prefer separate threads.  Thanks anyway.

You may, but Support won't, and has requested you attempt to limit new threads. 7 within a few days sets of spam alarms, if nothing else...;)

When threads are all related they are better combined.  If nothing else it stops others' threads being displaced and is thus more considerate.

You can create one thread...call it "Poor design of Curtains UI" [or similar] and present an itemized list which can be responded to so everyone is on the same page, and not 7 of them.  You might even consider it good interface design in itself.

I know I got lost with the way they are now...thought there were only 4...;)

That would make one confusing thread.  Been there, done that.  I'm really shocked with this fuss about the threads.

But I'll say this... Stardock has some good software,  I even recommend one of them,  but the others I cannot.

Curtains is new!  Hopefully, the experience will improve over time by making better use of screen space,  and more intuitive, to avoid the need to research solutions to simple tasks.

What's the difference here with transparency?
