The only thing the designer should do before releasing a..........
...And that's exactly what I've done, nothing else, and still these files have appeared there beside the .wba ??

run the 'Tools, Clean Skin' function in SkinStudio
That tool doesn't get rid of all the leftover images. But luckily any remaining images in my skins are my own because I use a "skin template" that I have created that doesn't have any extras in there.

Now, if a skinner uses the "new skin" function in sks and then deletes the substyles, when he uses the clean skin tool it will leave a ton of extra images in the folder. Somehow even after deleting the vista and xp substyles, the images are still referenced somewhere (most likely in on of those .uis.wb4 files). There is no way to go into sks and deselect these items because those sections are removed from sks. This leaves one with only the option to go into the skin folder and manually delete the old images. Here's where the problems can occur. I found out, if you delete the vista shutdown buttons (just the images, mind you) the windows 7/10 shutdown area disappears from your skin....it's like totally gone! The only way to get rid of those images are to replace them with a blank canvas image named exactly the same.

This is a tad off topic, but it's why I asked Andy (neon6) if he had perhaps been a bit overzealous in cleaning out the skin folder, but it's clearly not the case....so I don't know.

not really. But I can tell you that Sks has been a bit wonky for me in the last 6 months. I've had issues where the .wba that sks generates is broken in a way. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a newer version of sks and hope that that did the trick.....I won't know until I start on a new skin.

yeah those files stick around and sometimes retain the name of the original skin rather than the current name. I think they may be leftovers from older versions of WB, but they still contain essential code to the workings and thus cannot be removed. I'm sure Neil would know.

Well, the skin works apparently well on both win  8 & 10 and I updated the description to Win 10 ONLY so I'll drop his for now.

All those "~" files are created by SkinStudio any time you edit a skin.

And what am I supposed to do with them ?8|

And In what way does this affect that the skin doesn't work on 7 ?

I'm only talking about the files specifically which contain the tilde "~" character.

Most skinners seem to leave them in there.

My usual hacky disclaimer:  Based on my experience only, results are not guaranteed, proceed at your own risk.

I delete them, aggressively.

I also delete the reimport.lst file which is usually in there.

I also delete the TmpPngs folder if it's in there, which it usually isn't.

I honestly don't know, but I would expect "None".

Hm. So fact remains, the skin doesn't for some reason work on Win 7 but Fine on 8 & 10 And we haven't figured out why.

-Good thing I edited the Description.:cylon:
