What happened to "LARGE" Start Buttons??

Let me start by saying sorry if this has been covered before, and that I love this program!!

I remember "larger" start buttons being supported on Start 10, what happened?? Now the images get cut off at the top. Is this a known issue or something I'm doing wrong?

Below is an example of a normal start button and one that is sized larger. I'm trying to get a "Vista" theme going, but need a start button that goes outside the task bar.. :(

  • Windows 10 64bit
  • Windows Blinds
  • Start10

If I remember correctly Startbutton that overshot the actual size of the taskbar will be cutoff, and that started back it Windows 8. Here my Sonix14, which have its startbutton actually position above the taskbar. But in Windows 8. That won't work. It will get shifted down, but if it too big, it will be cut off where ever its over the taskbar.

Thank you,

Yeah I would like to know if this will be fixed. Really ruins some older styles I use. The button gets cut off. I know its possible still as Startisback can load the original windows vista orbs just fine.

I dont know of any button theme that ships with Start10 that does not work with its 'large' version.

Are you certain you are on the latest version of Start10: 1.94?

He's talking about start buttons that are higher than the taskbar.

After seeing this thread, I tried a few blinds with large start buttons. vStyler's Outer Limits is an example.

On my main screen, it is forced down.  Secondaries aren't as badly cutoff.

Should look like this:

Yes both Start10 and Windoblinds are set to auto update and are on the latest. Even my Windows is on latest update, 2004 if I'm not mistaken. I checked both laptops with same setup, same issues..

Would be really cool to be able to do this "over skinning" of the Start button area... Imagine what things could be done Tweaking and playing with that Extra space

It was done in the past. Often.

I've been using Start10 on Win10 ever since the very early days of Win10 and I'm fairly certain the situation has always been as Basj described in Reply 1, the button will be confined within the taskbar.  One thing that does have a minor affect on positioning is whether or not the Start Button is set to "Position vertically in the taskbar".  Image in Reply 7 is how it would look with that option turned off, Image in Reply 8 is how it would look with that option enabled.  If that setting is the same in the skin on both images and the only difference is Primary or Secondary monitor, I'd have to describe that as "quirky" ;)

More here with a picture of the setting I'm talking about:

Another thing that define how the start button will be placed, is the setting under the Advanced tab in WB to force the start button to be positioned in the middle of all styles.

I'm going to try uninstalling Start10 and reinstall with an older version and see if that allows me to get the start button to go outside of the taskbar size. If that doesn't work, I'll try running a sandbox of different flavors of windows and see if that effects it.

I know for certain that I used to be able to have larger button! Hell even the default Start10 comes with a "skin" that is larger than the others, but also gets cut off (or squished).. It's round on the bottom, with an arrow at the top, in blue.
