Acoustic Bridge Discontinued?

I use Stardock Acoustic Bridge now since a few years, I always run into network and firewall problems so I wanted to check if there is a new version out, because mine still says version 1.0. So i check the website, no information about updates or what version is the latest one. So I had to download the TRIAL to figure out if there is a new version. Had to uninstall my installed Acoustic Bridge, reboot etc etc. turns out the Trial is also verison 1.0, all the work for nothing.

Will there ever be a updated version? like 64bit support or automatic Windows Firewall configuration? Sure it works if it works, but its always a pain getting it to run, there are surely steps you can take to make the network connectivity more easy like a network explorer or make it possible to select the network adapter it should use, if you have 2 or more network adapters Acoustic Bridge always runs into trouble, you have to disable all other adapters then re-enable them, so annoying, just update this with some simple network features please.

This software is not updated since 2012, thats 8 years now, so is developement on this discontinued or is there still hope?

Is there at least still support for it? You still sell the software so you better do. I cant unlock the "settings" page. I locked it and wanted to unlock it again, it say its locked by a Admin and I cant unlock it. I already tried running the Program and the Config as Administrator, still the same error. Uninstalling the program and re-installing did not help.

*EDIT* had to search the registry for everything with the name "stardock" to find it in the registry to delete it, this software is just broker and you dont update it but still sell it, good job.

+1 on this

I've downloaded the trial, and trying to set it up. But there are no automatic configuring for the firewall, so the software is not working

I am near certain that there are rules created for AB in the firewall but it will take me some time to set up an environment to install \ test it (we all use Multiplicity).

That it's not working does not mean it has anything to do with the firewall rules - but may be.

What have you done, what's your set up, what errors are you getting (screenshots)?

Well, for me the sound goes out for moments at a time.  I'm sure it's not the network as I do not lose connection in any other applications.  I use wired connections as well so I am certain the connection is stable.  Unfortunately, the sound goes out and starts playing on the native device for a few seconds (I can hear it through the speakers of that device) then it picks back up on the remote PC.  It happens enough and long enough to be frustrating but I cannot seem to figure out why or how to stop it more importantly...

EDIT: You mentioned using Multiplicity, is Acoustic Bridge now part of that? I see it has audio sharing.  I do not need any of the other features, but a consistent stable audio share would be quite helpful if it solves the above problem.

Its so sad to see how Stardock lets Acustic Bridge just die. Since 8 years or more  there is no update to this really great piece of software. No improvements, nothing, still version 1.0 since 2012. This software deserves to be treated better, it was not even made for Windows 10. No configuration improvements, i still have to work with IP addresses because the DNS for AcousticBridge is outdated since years. I understand its not a hot selling product but still, at least some improvements with the configuration options, anything to make it work smooth on modern os. Isn't it still 32bit like on Windows 98?

The name lookup system used by Acoustic Bridge is the standard OS one.  There is nothing newer that I am aware of.  It only supports IP v4, but pure IP v6 networks are rare so shouldn't be an issue.  What issues are you having with using a name vs IP address?

In terms of bitness, it is 32 bit because there is no benefit to being 64 bit.  It neither needs the extra memory or cpu registers that 64 bit would offer and being 32 bit carries no performance cost.  It means the same software will run on 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows.

Is there a way to specify the email notification for when someone responds to (quotes) my question specifically?  Also, is there a better way to contact support?

Not your comments specifically no.

'Support' for issues clients are having with our products are handled in the forums.  As you have seen, the forums are staffed by support personnel, seasoned users and devs (Neil was the lead on AB).

If there are account issues, refunds, cant get products purchased, we have a ticket system:

https://stardock.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/4

That page also best breaks down what we handle, where, and why.
