God Mode in Windows 10

Remember how useful God mode was?

I haven't seen how to create it in W10...until good old Tech Republic (link above) mentioned it in a simple "how to".

Just make sure you're the Administrator, right click on your desktop and create a new file. Name it:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

 and press "Enter".

This is what you should see when you double click on the blue file:

Mine is dark mode enabled from my prior article (https://forums.wincustomize.com/498171/page/1/#3767484)

Happy administrating, and if the name of the file bothers any sensibilities, you can rename it anything you wish.

That is wrong. Not file, but folder.

That'll be semantics.  Folders are put into filing cabinets....files are put into filing cabinets....ends up being the same thing ... JAFOCHECK

Yup, and filing cabinets are usually put in offices.... though one time I saw a filing cabinet about 20 foot up a tree.  I think it was deposited there during the 1974 floods that covered much of SE Queensland to varying depths.  There were suburbs suddenly transformed into lakes and rooftops disappeared.

Doc, I did this, and got the dark mode thing from your other post, yet my God Mode still doesn't go dark like yours.  Just saying.

The screenshot is of Windows Explorer, basically, in dark mode. Not every app takes dark mode. My DOpus doesn't, for example. My browsers do, but Edge doesn't.

What version of W10 are you using, and does the dark mode work on everything else?

Nothing skins every app, Jim.

Depends on how they're coded.

If (and I'm not recommending this) you really, really, really insist on everything being "dark", you can try what's in this article, but stay away from the Ux stuff as it might well void your OS warranty.

 

Also, before doing stuff, create a restore point.  😉

Nah, thanks, Doc.   I just can't figure out why your God Mode is dark and mine isn't.  No biggie.  Most everything I use is dark via Windows 10, and the Dark Mode browser extension.

I just tested my theory, Doc, and I was correct.

 

If I have dark mode chosen, and not running a windowblind skin, then my dark mode looks like your. Nice and dark.

 

But life without windowblinds is worse than life without dark mode.
