Start button size resets after opening start menu

Greetings.

Since the last Start10-Update the Start Button will reset its size (and remain that resetted size until you pick a new button or restart).

As you know, Start10 offers a range of start buttons of various sizes and allows you to make custom ones too (so in theory 1x1px is possible too), but it happens with the pre-installed ones too. Example:

Please fix. Thank you!

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

I was able to repro the issue and bugged it internally.  Thank you for the report.

Thanks for reporting this.

It looks like it only happens when you are showing the search box on the taskbar so disabling that is a temporary workaround.  This is because the issue is the start button is not getting smaller, the search box is shifting left over it partially.

We will ensure this is addressed in the next update.

Greetings,

are there any updates for this problem? I also encountered another issue recently: some icons do not properly respond to the currently set theme (even after manual switching). These icons will remain light, even in light mode. Although I am not sure if this problem is related to this issue or even Start10, anyway it only started occuring a few days ago:

It doesn't seem to happen on my tablet which doesn't have Start10 install, but that doesn't neccessarily mean it's related to Start10.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more.

1) Windows version. Please use winver.exe for full version numbers.

2) Does the network and volume icons color issue go aways if you restart?

3) Do you have Windowblinds installed in this system?

Thank

There is a pending update for the start button size issue which I hope will be released soon.

Regarding the icon colour issue, start10 does not paint those icons so that will be an operating system issue rather than a Start10 one.

Nevermind, the error now also appears on my Start10-less tablet, so it's safe to say it doesnt relate to Start10, as Neil Banfield said.

Greetings, I am not much into betas but apparently a stable version has been released - I downloaded and installed it.

Unfortunately the problem persists - was this particular problem adressed in the recent patch?

Almost 4 months and still no fix is a little... slow :( Sorry to say that... after all we/I paid for that software...

Have  a great day, eveyone! :)

Hello,

Unless I misunderstood your issue, but, I no longer see the issue. Here what I get from my system.

Thank you,

The issue was resolved in 1.9

I would uninstall start 10, reboot and then install the latest version as it sounds like the upgrade install did not replace all of the files correctly.

Hello Neil,

sorry for my silence, my computer was broken so I couldn't test it.

I did a clean uninstall - reboot - install - reboot of version 1.94 now. The problem persists. :(

Still need to know this
1) Windows version. Please use winver.exe for full version numbers.

And, please try the purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here : https://forums.stardock.com/486022/start10-support-faq#reinstalling. Reboot and Re Install the latest version from your account https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products/. Reboot, test and report back.

If the issue still happening please post a video of the issue so that we can understand it much better.

Thank you,

Hello basj,

Version is 1903 (Build 18362.836). I had to revert back from 1909 because of some issues a while ago, but maybe that is fixed by now. I'll give 1909 another go and will also try your linked guide for purging, thanks.

Will report back later/tomorrow with the results.

Sorry, I didn't quite have the time to purge and reinstall and reconfigure everything recently - I decided to stick with the standard button for now, if I ever purge/reinstall and the problem persists, I will let you know. Maybe it's just that the uninstall wasn't complete.

What I can say: Upgrading to 1909 didn't fix it, sadly.
