Object Desktop Manager starts on its own. Annoying...

Running latest beta version.

"Launch...on Windows Startup" is un-checked/disabled.

It is not in the Windows Startup folder...

Yet Object Desktop Manager starts on its own, sometimes more than once a day. Any idea why? Anyone else having this issue?

Mine starts with 'Check for Updates' on at 8:00am

Used to check updates in the background, which I liked better.

Hello KoujiBEAR,

Sorry to hear you having issue. But, I don't see it happening on my system. I am on ODM V4.0 Beta 3. And I set it not to start on Windows Startup. On my system, it only run when I run it. Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall it?

Thank You,

It starts & opens every day when doing its update check. Used to do that silently unless it had an update.

Another issue - I am frequently being asked for license credentials for Start 10, Windows Blinds, Deskscapes, etc. My subscription is up-to-date.

Under Settings->Update Checks you can also disable the "Automatically Check for updates" option too.

So, if you disable both "Automatically Check for updates" and "Launch Object Desktop Manager on Windows Startup", it should not auto start anymore.

Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time. A "Run" dialog box will pop up, please paste the path below into the "Open" field and press OK.

%ProgramData%\Stardock\

In the folder that pops up, you should see a folder named PRODUCTNAME (the app in question). Please delete this folder and all of its contents.

After you have deleted that folder, please attempt to activate once again and it should succeed without any errors.

I hope this is being suggested as a workaround and not the final resolution. I recently started seeing the same behavior as OP and others. I don't want to turn off automatic check for updates to resolve it.

Same issue here. Object Desktop used to sit quietly in notification tray and popup would show up when there is an update to one of the programs. Now it pops up on its own every day.

Same issue here, Object Desktop used to sit quietly in the corner, now it pops up every day. Annoying. I do not consider disabling update checks as an acceptable fix.

Thanks,

Palle

I have the same issue, basj, and I did try the recommended fix, but nothing changed: Object Desktop still pops up every day.
