You need to e-mail one of the admins and have them take care of this. You can't say it is a rip unless you know for sure that no permission was granted.

No...they are 'rips' and Volter knows full well they are....We had them removed from the Opera sites, much to our Russian's disgust, so he's obviously found another unwitting site to host his thievery....>

Last time I posted a thread about possible rips, I was told to only contact the admins privately about rips since sometimes the case may be that permission was given but was not incuded in the description on the site.

That's generally for rips on this site Tech Cat. If it's a rip which could affect more than one skinner, and it's on another site outside of the skinning community 'loop', then it's sometimes a good idea to bring wider attention to it.

In this case the accused is guilty of ripping. What if the situation was different? Is it fair to publicly label someone a ripper before the authors of the original works being used have been contacted to ask if the accused did or did not seek their permission? When you post a rip thread you are making someone guilty before they are proven guilty.

In this case Tech Cat, we already know the guy ripped the icons. He's already posted them on another site and there was a long battle, fronted by Jafo, to get them removed. We've had comments from the original authors, so we know permission was never given to take the icons.

In general, you're right though. Unless there's proof, which is pretty easy to come by when you're talking about ripping, then this sort of thing should be done in private.

There is a long history of email communication relating to this person.....absolutely no question of 'rip or not rip'....he now knows exactly what he is doing and that it is wrong and stated publicly that he intends to continue doing so.

The IMPORTANT point here, however is that Opera.com and a related 'Fan' site have both responsibly removed his works when requested.....they were unaware of the problem until contacted....and their subsequent actions are beyond reproach.

Language barriers have always been an issue in this case...but we can but just keep trying.

Come to think of it...this is number 4 battle......1 was a dud as he hid under the 'no comprende' camoflage, 2 and 3 were won by sidestepping him with a pincer movement.....and 4 will probably just need us to 'dust off and nuke him from space.....only way to be sure'...

There is one main suite that seems to stand out from the rest. It's the toon one. That's a paid for suite copyrighted by PixStudio. He thinks it's ok to take the work that people did and mess with it without permission. Then when you keep going through his work, you'll find alot more pay suites and other peeps work that is posted on WC. Opera was a pain to get him to take off. Now it's going to be more interesting to get this one taken care of. I like Jafo's idea, nuke his @$$.

Back to topic....I again must stress that Opera.com in particular were very responsible and removed the offending work/s immediately, and thus are a respectable company worthy of our support and custom....we should be providing them with legitimate skins for their browser, and show them the quality of skins they have deserved...
