Unable to select/show any Dreams/backgrounds

Recently one of my backgrounds got "stuck" and no other background would replace it when selected.  Followed directions for "purge" and then a fresh install.  No luck.  The only background I can get on desktop is with Windows, not Deskscapes.  Currently when I select a background in Deskscapes it says "Loading background preview" and the name shows, I can see the subtle changes in the header's color that usually happen when selecting one, but the preview never comes up, and applying doesn't work.  Looking for a solution, I love Deskscapes, but this is frustrating.  Thanks!

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Try these settings changes in Deskscapes 10 .

Changing the Media Foundation to one of the two Direct Show setting .

Follow the image below . Also try updating your Codes to latest versions https://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm

Direct Show settings here.

Try making these changes then Reboot and test .

I have exactly the same problem. Also did clean reinstall using DSPurge file and followed all the suggestions by AzDude. Rebooted. Same problem persists. Any other suggestions?

None of the above will work including getting any response from "Support".

So you did the clean boot as well under a new Windows Admin account?  You seem new to the thread - could you tell us what version / build of Windows you are using?

I am also suddenly having this issue. It worked yesterday, after rebooting today, can select and change still backgrounds but not Dreams.  Dreams seem "stuck" on a previous Dream and will not release.  Also right-clicking on a Dream in their folder and selecting "Set as Desktop Background" no longer works.

I tried the Purge and reinstalled, and rebooted.

Nothing is changed.  I still cannot set a Dream as a background, either from Deskscapes or by right-clicking on the Dream.

Is there a place we can still download DeskScapes 8?  I'm really tired of fighting DeskScapes 10.

Did you check your Downloads folder to see if it is there ?

if so do the Purge ( listed above reply#10 ) and then install 8 back .

I've done the purge, done the setting up of another Windows 10 account, so many things.  Still can't play a Dream, just my own videos or pictures.  So frustrating.  Reached out to support, just a template email back in return - saying to post in the forums :(

If it worked one day, but not the next, could you help us with what you may have changed (installed an update, new software, etc)?

Uninstall DS 10 and install DS 8.  It works fine and has nothing to do with "decoders", etc.

I found an old DS 8 installer and have gone back to DS8.  DS10 was starting to drive me a little crazy with its endless bugs, not going online, then not showing dreams.  Going back to a version that works is life-improving.

HELLO...I have been waiting weeks for a response to my problems with DS 10.

I have done everything posters have asked, way too many times.

I guess DS 10 will have to wait until it is FIXED!

Greg, SJN,

Regrettably, you are but maybe 4 clients that we are aware of that are still having issues - and not all of you always were with DS10.  We do not know why you all are so unique.

That said, the Devs are aware.
