is there a way to make diamond less blurry in 10.74?

is there a way to make diamond less blurry in 10.74?

In previous versions the transparent areas weren't so blurry but it looks like 10.74 is replicating windows 10 native transparency effect and it's too blurry, is there any way to reduce it? Reducing or increasing transparency didn't work.

Using Windows 10 1809 and Nvidia GTX 960

Thanks

Either way, can't have animations and an animated start menu at the same time, at least not that I ever found.
My findings as well. Can't have both, it seems.

Dave, I have WinFX enabled for all skins, I do not alter blur settings in Start10. Yet start menu anims via the skinner work fine for me.

It's just that WinFX doesn't have ANY effect on the start menu, even if it isn't turned off for the start menu.  If the blur is enabled in SKS for said start menu, WinFX just ignores that start menu .

According to Neil, If I recall correctly.

I never exclude any start menus in WinFX.

Pretty sure we haven't had any mention of Start10 blur settings regarding WinFX and start menu animations.  There isn't any relationship that I know of, maybe you were talking about SKS blur settings?

I think we're saying the same thing otherwise:  SKS start menu blur = no WinFx active effects,  SKS Start menu animations do work

I think we're also saying the same thing: SKS start menu NoBlur with WinFx effects = SKS Start menu animations don't work (although I say they are there, but behind the Start Menu where you can't see them)

I'm also saying: SKS start menu NoBlur with WinFx effects OFF = SKS Start menu animations work (but of course no WinFx effects)

Are we "there"? ;)

If you disable the blur on the skin's start menu, turn off WinFX (maybe just on the start menu?) and you'll see the skins's animations, which still doesn't get you where you're wanting to go (WinFX start menu animations plus skin's start menu animations).

Ah, ok, I see.  I was thinking "why disable both?"

We're there. Same end, different ways to get there.

Bottom line, it needs fixing...lol.

Back to the OP.

oxygene and Chasbo:

Windows 10, latest release, WB 10.74. Don's Dark Glass.  Full trans, no settings adjusted.  Maybe blur is an issue on random machines, I have no idea. I just know it works here.

But I do also see it differently Jim. On my PC. I get this.

Edit:  Its actually Windows 8 (VM) not Windows 7 (VM) sorry

Which would lead me to believe that it's a setting, or a conflict of some sort.  If it was SKS, WB, or Start10, I'd see what you see.

I think SKS and WB can be ruled out since both Windows 7 and Windows 10 using same versions.

Having "Acrylic Blur" selected within Start10 v1.7 causes blur to not work at all on the WB taskbar.

I think I have missed something. How/where is this option available in Start10?

Thank you,

Is this what everyone is talking about? I mention this before on another thread. I got lost on the WinFx thing.

I'm referring to the blur of the start menus. All using Naked Noir, 1: is Win 10, 2: Win 8.1, 3: Win 7.

Win 10 also has "Acrylic" blur on the taskbar and title bar as the others don't. I can adjust it in WB, but it makes it too transparent.

Pretty sure I heard about it from you ;)   You have to apply the Default Skin in WB, then open Start10 config:

Don't know about the 7 and 8.  For the 10, yes that's the acrylic blur on the StartMenu.  The taskbar is really "Normal Win10 blur", you'll notice it's not quite as heavy as the StartMenu.

It's not MS, they added this new "too blurry" transparent effect to dwm as a response to the majority of windows 10 users who wanted to have win 7 transparency back, and once again guys at Redmond did a great job imitating apple (this is exactly how transparency effect looks like on macOS) but you won't see it unless you update WB to the latest version in which it uses dwm's native transparency not only on 7 and 8 but also on 10. And it doesn't have anything to do with start10 or winFX since I tried many different configurations including downgrading, disabling and/or uninstalling start10 and winFX. and about the BlurBehind effect on start menu being randomly disabled, the first time MS released this feature it was enabled on random machines with no GUI to configure it that's why we had to use registry to enable/disable it.
