On Scale...
TLDR: This game doesn't seem 'massive-scale' to me, and I would really love it if that was the case. If you are already planning on increasing the scale of the game, feel free to ignore the rest of this message
So a bit of context on this:
A few weeks before I received the first email about Siege of Centauri, I had a hankering for some tower defense games. I ended up picking up a few off of steam and had a bit of a good time, but was overall not satisfied. I realized I wanted something that had larger maps so I could really play around with towers and destroy ever-growing waves of monsters. I really wanted the "Total War: Annihilation" of tower defense games. I'm definitely not a game developer, but I was getting ready to try and build that myself because I wanted something like that badly. So what are the odds that I would receive an email from one of my favorite game companies saying they were going to make a 'massive-scale' Tower Defense game? I honestly couldn't believe it and I even told my wife about how excited I was, to which she replied: "That's nice, honey..."
However, when I got to playing the game, I realized that the scale didn't feel particularly massive. It's definitely way better in scale than a lot of other TD games out there, but not what I was imagining. Perhaps I'm too glued to the one bit of info on the game that I got from a marketing email, but I really do hope to see maps where you can have 100s of towers and 1000s of enemies bearing down on you. You have to zoom out to the point where your towers and mobs become little icons. In another post, you were looking for differentiators and this would be one, albeit expensive. It would be an easier one to defend as well. Pun intended.
