Thanks pictoratus,...either the places or programs list Dark Mist.I looked at some i thought had glyphs(one of them yours)but they just had the image as part of the bmp background. Is this the only way to do it?Or is this another example of "its there but it isnt spported by WB"?Ther really should be some documentation for stuff like this.Dark your aware of how long it took for me to solve the disappearing shellstyle glyphs, and here i go again.

Well as far as i know you can only make it part of the background itself, personally i find it much easier that way

Places or Program list background does not support overlay images, therefore the only way to place an image is to make it on the background it self.

Hi apocalypse... I can get images to show there no problem.I just cant get .tga transparency to work.I got magic pink to work but that just looked terrible.the attributes for translucency are there, your given 4 choices. They just arn't working correctly. This could be another situation of "its in SS but WB4 dosnt support it properly".There are lots of sections with glyph attributes but i wonder how many of them are worth pursuing.I've wasted a third of my skinning time to stuff that was nearly impossible to figure out or just flat dosnt work.Wheres the dang documentation for this stuff?

Saw the post so I tried it just on a lark, couldn't get to work at all, let alone badly.

I've never tried using a glyph on the startmenu, until reading this thread............................ I have one working in the Places list. Was no problem, it works fine.   I wonder why it doesn't work for you guys.....

Does it involve another must-be-a-certain-color-depth-with-a-pixel-in-the-upper-righthand-corner-of-the-same-color-as..... you get the picture.

Nope, saved as a TGA with alpha transparency, same as all the other tga images.  Maybe the trick is, even though the Transparent, and Translucent check boxes are grayed out, I was able to set these attributes in the tree under "Glyph Image" Try it, and see what happens.
