Designing new ships?

how to rotate the ship to place stuff underneath it

Well this is embarrassing....

I've played GalCiv 2 & 3 for years, but not for sometime. I seem to have forgotten how to design new ships.

I can get to the design page ok and I've got a new engine on my mouse, but how in the heck do I rotate the ship so I can place the part at the back/underneath? I've done this a million time before but right now I'm clueless :(

Sorry for this really stupid question. I've checked the manual and the wiki but not getting the info I'm after.

I mean... on my PC you click and hold down the middle mouse button (wheel) and then move the mouse... this rotates in any direction.

No problem. Happens to the best of us .

I am unable to get this to work. When I try to click the middle mouse button to rotate a ship in the ship designer, it highlights the part nearest the mouse pointer and tries to rotate that. Very frustrating! Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated.

short summary:

left click and drag = move the ship

Middle click and drag = rotate the ship

left click on a part and drag to attachment = add a part (subject to mass limits)

lick click on an attached part = open the scale, rotate, translate menu for specific adjustments
