Ship Designer - How do I hide my ship's engines and thrusters?

I've been trying to create a ship back during the Fleet Battles beta, but there's one glaring problem I can't solve. I need to place an engine and thrusters on my ship, and there seem to be no options to either hide the thruster and the engine, reduce their size, or recolor them. When I'm trying to play my ship in Fleet Battles, the engine sticks out completely like a sore thumb, as it's larger than the ship itself. Is there any way  around this? I've seen plenty of ships that don't seem to have any visible engines, like the Phamysht Consumer.
