A simple question

I am not happy here. I used to use Desktop X a long time ago with Windows XP. I stopped along with many others because Stardock screwed everyone over. I just paid for the (not so complete?) Object Desktop collection, only to find that it is a subscription. I got scammed. They never said anything about a subscription anywhere, until after I paid for it. Imagine buying a car, and then finding out after you buy it that you have to give it back after a year? And now, I've had to pay another subscription here just to download anything. I posted in the Stardock forum asking how to do what this software is supposed to do like the old days with .desktop themes and widgets/gadgets, only for an employee and admin to ignore my simple question and try to make me pay for even more (Object Dock?). An employee and a moderator tell me completely different stories. They tell me they are going to bring in more employees to answer such a simple question. Then, while I wait, I'm suddenly blocked from responding further! I had a friend read their bizarre responses in the thread, and he said 'refers to a program that doesn't exist with no explanation on where it is (or what it does)'. So here I am, asking again... how does one make/use a custom interface like the old days with docked tools on your desktop? So far, I've paid a subscription of about $60 only to find completely useless software that does what Windows already does by itself. I can do more with a simple batch file.

Hello,

I am sorry for your issue. As you should know, Stardock is currently on weekend and only be back on Monday morning, which is just a few hours away. Those who answered you on your other thread were only trying to help to the best that they can to some extend. The best answer still directly from Stardock Support Team, which you need to wait for them to come back on Monday.

I have forwarded your problem to Stardock Support team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Request a refund.

Ok.

Step one.  I am an Admin, so mostly I'll be right...;)

Step two. If you strike a posting issue on the Forum/s it is because newly registered users 'may' be spam-bots so early posting is time-limited for number/frequency.

Step three.  The explanation of what a SUBSCRIPTION service is.  Exactly as with a Magazine Subscription, a current sub entitles you to ongoing editions of the mag...as does ongoing updates/improvements to the Object Desktop programs.  Let either lapse and you still will always have what you already got. [the one proviso with Object Desktop is that you actually download and archive the programs you wish to continue using/installing past the time you no longer wish to subscribe.]

Step four. If you used Object Desktop "a long time ago with Windows XP" it has not changed. It was a subscription-based scheme then and still is now.

Step four.  No-one from Stardock "screwed everyone over.", intentionally or otherwise. [nor would they].  If, however, you feel somehow 'wronged' you can email [email protected] and request a refund.

....or you can be patient and await the requested skinning/themeing assistance from other Community Users just like yourself...;)

DesktopX had been ceased developing a while,so is widgets/gadgets. And I found you personally has hard time express yourself well, maybe with comprehension too.

Such a simple question... Four irrelevant, bizarre, incoherent responses that include personal attacks and appeal to authority fallacies, 4/6 total respondent's being Stardock staff, and STILL not a single answer. Ask me any question in the universe, and I will give you a straight answer immediately. That's how discussion works. If you're not even responding to what the other person is saying, then you're just speaking over them to override what they say.

I have walked into a facade, something is not right here.

Ah............,I finally figured out what the issue is after reading https://forums.stardock.com/491176/page/1/#3727469

First of all,DesktopX is no longer available for purchase or download from Stardock. What you bought now is Object Desktop which not include DesktopX as its webpage shown.  To clarify more,"Object Desktop is a powerful suite of desktop enhancements",not a software. The ODManager is just a portal/tool for download software that included in Object Desktop you bought.  Furthermore,it is called widgets/gadgets or desktop gadgets ,saying docked tools is more confusing, since Stardock has one product called ObejectDock

Oh,on the DesktopX webpage, said "registered users" can download from their accounts meant old purchasers of DesktopX.

As I said, you need to express well what the issue is more correctly, otherwise people is going to more confusing than ever. :borg:
