(Spoiler Alert) Was The Main Quest Playtested? Lander Issues

I'm beginning to be suspicious that the main quest did not go through testing.  There are several sequences that need lander upgrades that you don't have access to:

1.  Mercury and Io for radioactives.  In the original game, both places were toxic, but it was possible to sneak your lander, get the stuff, and go.

2.  Lacaille - NONE of the planets are landable with Degenerate Matter.

By the way, the first officer tells you that the planet is not lander friendly AFTER you lose your lander in a couple of instances.  This should be prioritized for a fix.

I posted about the achievement issues in the support for low priority, but these should be high priority.

1. Neither are really valuable in the grand scheme of things.  This might sound snotty, but it's not meant to be: This isn't Star Control 2.  You don't need those radioactives.  You can get the upgrades to get them later, but by then they're not really valuable.

2. I had no issues with this, but save right before you attempt to land and make sure you're using WASD to navigate your landing.  It's doable unless you're running into a bug others haven't.

In the Sol system, there is another moon that has uranium and is safe to land on.

As for the Lacaille planets, by that time you should be able to acquire the tech for some basic toxic and heat shielding. If you don't have it yet, you should be able to get it pretty soon.

And to elaborate on planetary hazards in general, in SCO they are divided into two types: local and global. Local hazards work just like in SC2: you're safe as long as you're out of their way. Global hazards (which are divided into heat and toxic hazards) will damage your lander continuously unless it has an adequate level of protection.
