this really needs to go to [email protected]

do you really mean taskbar items? or do you mean system tray icons?

if it is the system tray, have you tried a reboot? if it is the taskbar, have you configured (or played with) taskbar filtering rules?

does this problem effect all skins, or only some?

I have the same problem. My system tray icons will not show up. Doesn't matter what I try and it happens with all my skins. It isn't the actual ObjectBar program that is causing the problem, because it was fine before I had to reinstall WindowsBlinds because of the expiration of that program. So I suspect it has something to do with WB.

if you have the mcp program by stardock, you can set trayserver.exe to launch from it. That should clear up all that stuff. You will have to go into the registry to add the key.

Steelers Rule, look in:
c:\program files\common files\stardock

and see if you have "TrayServer.exe". if you dont, then you arent going to get any system tray icons, since this is the program that OB and DX require to get system tray icons to work.

And if you got ObjectBar thru Stardock Central, you probably don't have the file. Why does SC still omit parts of the programs? Like feline, when I set up my new computer I had to copy TrayServer.exe from the old computer as it was not there in the new download. Also, odzip.dll is usually missing from downloads. Please fix this someday!

jebland, i agree totally. i was trying to put it politely in public

my email to stardock support the day i realised OB didnt come with trayserver, so wasnt working on my home machine was a bit more blunt

I understand the concept of reducing the d/l size, etc. but there needs to be a way to tell Stardock Central that it is a new install and not an update so all the files will be included. I am having stability issues with ObjectBar on the new computer and I don't know if it's XP (I was on Win2k), or if everything isn't registered correctly due to the faulty download. I may not even have the right version of TrayServer.exe.

I am having the same problem with my task-bar today after installing WindowBlinds. I had to reinstall because of the expiration of that program. You see the icons on Windows task-bar. What are you supposed to do to correct this problem?

Yes, I have Trayserver. I reinstalled OB and got my icons back in the task bar, but now I've lost the task bar completely. It shows up for a very short time, goes into auto hide and never comes back.

GG, i am not familiar with this problem.
so, these ideas are just off the top of my head guesses.
i presume you are running WB 3.5x, and are not running winXP

are you running OB? if so, does unloading it help?
if you are not running OB, then does this happen in all WB skins?
have you tried turning off taskbar skinning in WB?

feline- Everything is working fine this morning. When I re-installed WindowBlinds 3.51, there were a few things that were not checked in settings. I rechecked some options and presto everything is working fine now!!! Thanks for helping!!

yea i looked i do not have the tryserver.exe

c:\program files\common files\stardock

ok how do i go about getting it

Lastshot, i only ways i know of are:

a) use the old component manager to download and install OB. this normally includes trayserver.exe

b) find someone else with a copy on their machine, and get them to email you a copy + the regkey required to make it work

c) try the standalone exe install of OB beta, and hope that installs trayserver.exe

i dont know of any way to get trayserver via Stardock Central.

if need be i can email you trayserver.exe, and i can also tell you the reg key to make. however, the reg key bit requires you are ok to run regedit. DONT do that if you dont know what you are doing with it.

there is no email in your profile though.

you might want to email [email protected] and point out that you are having this problem. maybe they can offer a better solution. if they can, i would also like to know what it is.

I think e-mailing [email protected] would be the best solution. They need to be aware of this problem.

jebland, i have already emailed them on at least 2 occasions about this, complete with references to install log files showing it isnt being installed, and links to other threads here about the problem.

my last email on the subject was a bit "blunt", since i have only just had this problem myself on my home machine *sigh*

But the more complaints they get, the more apt they are to fix it! I regret not e-mailing them when it happened to me.
