I had Fences 2 on another laptop and with my new one I paid to upgrade to Fences 3.  I did not get a new product code with the Fences 3.  When I try to use the activation code for Fences 2 it says invalid.  Do I need a new activation code for version 3?

I have done that several times and it just sends me a key for V2.  When I upgrade to V3 it says key is not valid.  I do not get another key for V3.

Yes, I believe you need a new key to work on Fences V3. Usually you can have the key through that link I give above or through your account https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. As long as you buy/pay through same email account. I saw few problems  reported by our clients when they have different email account between the one they registered and they pay with the paypal account which is using different email account. If that the case you can merge those two account via : https://forums.stardock.com/486311/accounts-and-activation-support-faq#mergeaccounts

Both v2 and v3 show up in my account as available to download under one email address.  Just no Activation code associated to the V3
