Unable to start SCO in Steam any more.

Help - Anyone got answers?

Hi Guys

I now appear to have done something wrong with SCO.  I had no issues with SCO - Fleet Battles BETA, but since then after installing SCO on Steam and last playing 27/04/2018, then recently returning to it following a break from gaming (Personal Issues) I am unable to start the game.  I click on Play in Steam and I get a Steam - Error pop-up stating

"An error occurred while updating Star Control: Origins (missing executable): K:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Star Control - Origins\Game\StarControl_DX11.exe"

I have done several of the steam support recommendations and verified game files etc. but I still have issues.  I uninstalled SCO Fleet Battles BETA and SCO in case that was an issue and I reinstalled SCO.  Still the same issue.

Anyone got any ideas?  I am up to date with Steam, Windows 10 and Graphics/Audio drivers.

Cheers

Andy

I'm having the same issue.  Can't get anything to play on Steam, include Fleet Battles beta.

You put in the beta code, but did you click the arrow to select the beta you would like to opt into?  You have to do that too.

Right click the SCO game in Steam and click properties.  Then go to the Betas tab and click the arrow beneath "Select the beta you would like to opt into" and select either vip_elite2 for the Founder's beta, or if you are trying the SCO Fleet Battles beta then right click that and select properties, go to the Beta tab, click the arrow, and select closedbeta.

Thanks for the reply.  I did not select anything under betas.  I have done so now, but apparently I have to wait 2 hours for something else to download.  Sheesh.  Thanks again!
