Website problem
Cannot order software
I have in the last few weeks received two different emails from Stardock. One of the emails informed me that I had lest two items in my cart, and would I like to finish my order at a discount; if so, it gave me a code to "complete" my order. I am currently a registered user at this Stardock website.
Problem is, the two products "left in my cart" were Object Desktop (1 yr subscription) and Tiles, both of which I purchased in May of 2018., so I do not want either of these items. Then yesterday I received another email offering to sell me Stardock's new PDF Editor, which I would be interested in purchasing...
...EXCEPT when I go to the website to order the PDF Editor and to remove whatever was in my cart before that remained from an "incomplete" order, the website already had the Object Desktop and Tiles items in the cart and priced to be included as part of any order I placed. When I tried to remove the two items I already own, the Object Desktop and Tiles, by the only method available, changing the order quantity for those two items from 1 to 0 and then selecting the Update button for each item, the only thing the website does is to revert the order quantity from 0 back to 1 for those two items, and those items remain part of my order of any other product such as the PDF Editor.
I really would like to buy, or at least try the new PDF Editor software, but not if I am going to be scammed into buying something else that I already own as a condition for purchasing the Editor. This tactic reminds me of a bait-and-switch scam at a used car lot, I would think Stardock was above such tactics. I would find it very hard to believe that this was just an unnoticed error on the website, since I do not see any other way there to order products so it must have been present for some time.
To cap it all off, of course, you cannot directly contact Stardock by phone to discuss this issue, so I must use this forum as a last resort. I tried sending an email directly from the website about my problem, but all I received in return is a very curt no-reply email that directed me to this forum (in which I have posted a problem awhile back and got very good replies, although nobody could solve my problem).
I am hoping I get a solution here, but if not I will just assume Stardock does not want me to buy any of their products hereafter, and place their emails on my junk email list so I do not have to bother with them again. I hope that is not the outcome of this experience...
