noob (:(

Hi all. Ive been lurking around here for a few days now and downloaded a few skins. Your skins are awesome. And now im pumped and want to create one. I d/led skin studio to make my own skins but the truth is i fire up the program select new to start a new project and then i freeze. i go blank. Dont know where to start. It looks so overwhelming to me. And end up closing the program. I want to start with something simple just to get the hang of it, you know sort of like training wheels. Anyway if anybody has any suggestions, please post. Thanks

All the graphics are created in an art program such as Paint Shop Pro, the ideas come from favorite things or films, book, magazines, TV, etc. that's about the best I can offer, good luck

SkinStudio can be overwhelming even to experienced skinners. You guys should start with simpler skinnables, such as BeatNik. Get your feet wet before you try diving right into something like WindowBlinds.

Make sure you can use your paint program first. Then do as Koasati said. Start small.

There are also a couple of tutorials that can help you understand the program. That worked for me when I first started.
And as eveyone has said, start small and practice with your paint programs.

Or, you could try doing a wallpaper or two... Of course, If youre new to bryce or (one of my favorites...) Terragen or Photoshop, it can be a bit of a challenge. Tho, none of those are too hard to learn. (Try making something worth uploading in 3Ds max or Lightwave) Cursors are a bit easier than Windowblinds so if you want to actually 'skin' something other than your desktop that isnt too hard, that'd prolly be a good place to start... There is a good CursorXP tutorial at https://www.stardock.com/products/cursorxp/guide.asp if you want. Have fun!

I froze too , still do, just look around you and something will pop up

I still freeze. Sometimes all I do is play around with different images until I stumble onto something. And I agree the others. Don't make Windowblinds your first skinning attempt. It can become overwhelming. Try something smaller. Good luck

I think Sysmetrix is a good thing to start with.

The skinning is a piece of crap. In skinstudio You can start with titlebar skinning. Start Your image in Photoshop or Paintshop and draw it as you like. Then just cut out the parts - top, left, right, bottom. Everything other will just come by self. I think...
