Next significant round of dev, and suggestion for community

I asked in another thread, but didn't really receive a response... so I am giving this question its own space:

I vaguely recall an update where it was mentioned that most of SD's attention would go towards Star Control until that game hits the street

Is that shifting yet?

I mean, it feels like it has been a while.

Can we expect more TLC from the whole dev team anytime soon?

We want MORE:

- More campaign

- 3rd race

- More/better AI on units (so that they don't act like dumplings anymore)

- Better selection controls/mechanisms

- More control over unit behaviors (enabling them to stop, hold position and not go chasing, focus retreat, tactically retreat, move without becoming radically distracted, form up in particular patterns, etc. etc. etc.)

- Better production/reinforcement controls

- perhaps some automations and steamlining of the base-building exercise.

The above issues come up again and again and again in the forums, and then we get news that "air transport" and "navy" is coming. I mean... blargh.  Sure. (Sigh.) Do the navy. Do the air. Fine. Whatever.

But please keep the above on the radar too.

Give the players who have been requesting the above items the opportunity to pay for the improvements we really want. :)

HOWABOUT:

Setup a mini kickstarter on the ashes site, and let us fund the features we want most!!!

(PS. T1 AA units for PHC was something folks have been asking for since the beginning and I was REALLY happy to see it in the DLC!!!!! THANKS!)

As I said in the February Dev Journal, our resources is almost entirely going towards Star Control: Origins at this point. Once that is shipped we'll have resources to allocate back onto other projects, but we'll work out a roadmap for what that involves at the time.

I'm still working on Ashes but I'm not an engineer so I can't do new features and code changes. That being said, the 2.75 update which has a lot of nice changes will be coming some time over the next month.

Make no mistake, I would love more singleplayer content, but that stuff takes time and money, and this is a smaller company. You gotta let them finish what they're up to now, then Ashes can get a bit more love.

Yeah, I hear that, but if people are willing to pay for the extra dev love... well, why is that a problem?

I dunno. I worked in the government contracting arena for years. There were recruiting challenges (esp. background check issues), and ramping challenges. But in terms of getting more work done on dev projects... yeah, it was pretty much wave a check and get stuff done (in the long run, at least).

Where there was a will... something something something.

That's just my experience, though.

Thanks, at any rate, for the response.

Glad to know the team is at least expanding.
