The Matrix Reloaded Plot Theories

The Matrix Reloaded Plot Theories

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

A few notes before you continue on with this thread:
1) There *will* be spoilers
2) If you’re here to talk about how much you hated the movie, please take it to the appropriate thread

With that said, after viewing Reloaded I was left with as many questions as I went in with, so if you have a take on what happened in the movie, please post ‘em here.

My thoughts on a few things:

.=Zion=.
Two things that we know for sure at the end of the movie is that a) Neo stopped a sentinel while “outside” of the Matrix, and b) Agent Smith is now in Zion. These two facts point to one thing: Zion is not the “real world” but is, in fact another portion of the Matrix.

.=The Coma=.
After stopping the sentinel Neo slips into a “coma”. I believe that Neo had a moment of ‘self realization’ when he did this that ‘blew his mind’, so to speak. If Zion is still technically within the Matrix, then it is very conceivable that Neo is AI and this realization caused a failure in his code. Or if he is human, it could be that this portion of the Matrix has a different security level in the code and since we’re still technically bound by the rules of the Matrix while within the Matrix, Neo’s realization causes a system error that boot’s him from the system. Either way I think that the coma is induced by code that is either a) written that way so if you “become aware” within this portion of the Matrix then you get kicked from the system, or b) an error in the code that cannot handle self realization in this portion of the Matrix.

.=Zion Revisited=.
If Zion is still a part of the Matrix, or a different ‘security level’ then everything that entails getting to Zion (taking the red pill, breaking free, getting flushed, etc.) are part an elaborate program to convince these individuals that they are now free of the Matrix and are now in the “real world”. If this is the case then it is still entirely possible that everyone is AI and this is an attempt by the larger part of the system to “convince” these portions of the AI that they are, in fact human. If everyone is not AI, then it still makes sense to create an area like this to ‘contain’ these renegades that cannot be contained by the “level 1” version of the Matrix.

.=The Rave Scene=.
There are no gratuitous sex scenes in The Matrix, and I believe that this scene is imagery of a much larger event, that being the union of Neo and Trinity. Perhaps it is of major significance that their “code” merges, or perhaps it is important that we see that they are passionate for one another rather than assume that they are. If we never seem them “together” then we can only assume that they have been intimate, so I think that we’ll find out that it was important that they “merged”. This could actually be a huge point of the last movie.

.=Random Thoughts=.
If AI is written good enough it will not be able to comprehend that it is AI, as this is self defeating to a “pure” AI system. Is it possible that we are watching the creation of the first AI ever that Morpheus mentions in the first Matrix? Is this cycle of Zion a recompiling and running of new code to test the compassion level of the AI towards humans? Could it be that Neo, is in fact the purpose of the AI and the point is to create AI (Neo) that is 100% compassionate towards humans so as to advert world destruction. Did they run a simulation of the AI and deem that if left to its own devices that it would attempt to destroy humanity, so Neo is the “fine tuning” process to make AI “compassionate” towards humanity? The one “failing” of humanity, according to the Architect is hope, and Neo now has that...

I have more but my fingers are tired

Don't answer him anymore, he just has an inferiority complex because he's so short and hasn't had a hit since 1970.

what plot? this was the most stupidest movie this year, and BORING!!!!! i told my friends to wake me up when it was over.

You mean you actually have friends? Could have fooled me...

Oh yeah, and I'm still in full agreement of Nakor as far as the plot is concerned...

I dunno, judging by his post, I reckon he had a hit right before he started typing.......

Normally, I would have waited for Karmagirl to take care of this, but I don't know when she'll be around over the weekend.

Tell me, Mr. Williams, what good is a phone call if you can't speak?

i give up- you matrix people will never listen. why do i get upset? some people here get nasty and attack me. well...i attack back. only defending myself.

Never grew up? (And you're proving my point, keep it up.) I haven't yet stooped to your level of questioning someone's sexuality now have I? Damn, guess I should start doing that so I can be a l33t d00d like you too huh?

And I hate to say it, 9 times out of 10, my posts probably have a much higher degree of intelligence in them than yours.

Right now, we're see what happens when 13 year olds get their first exposure to testosterone, they used to just get beat up at the bus stop, but now they have found the internet, a safe place they can run and hide and attempt (with horrible failure) to demean and mock people, little do they know, but the old guard still exists and still textually reams little children like them in public forums for their own enjoyment. Yes folks, our Mr. Williams here is a fine example. See, he dosen't realize that every opinion on him on this message board has gone sour, and soon he won't be here at all thankfully.

But Paul? Just remember, this is just one of those life learning experiences. You just haven't figured out that its time to slink back off to some messageboard like somethingawful that LOVES to have your type of little kid running around in it, infact, they ADMONISH it with love!

So Paul, please, you've lost and been beaten down, go away, nobody gives a damn about what you say anymore.

Paul –
I did not attack you. I was simply asking you to show some respect to this community, and by your attacks here it is painfully obvious that you have NO respect for the others of this community. Frogboy’s pinned post asks the following:

Frogboy’s request –
“…one thing that is making me really cranky is that people will make an intelligent post only to see it hijacked by people and turn it into something completely unrelated to what the original topic was about.

I've seen this trend growing lately and it is going to stop now. I don't care how long you've been around the community.

If there is a post discussing the [EXAMPLE] and you turn it into a tirade about [NOT THE EXAMPLE], you stand the risk of losing your posting access.”

You blatantly hopped into this thread and talked about your dislike for the movie when it is CLEARLY asked at the very first post that you take that notion to a new thread.

I see your trolling as a sad cry for attention and quite possibly help as well, however in the end I suspect that it’s going to end up getting you banned for the vulgar and homophobic slurs that you’ve been clearly directing at other members of this community, and you know what? It’s probably the best thing for this community if you do lose your posting privileges.

It’s too bad that you’ve chosen to use the anonymity of the internet as a weapon instead of the amazing communication device that it is.

Paul...they can ban your IP address....which I'm sure they will soon. They can find out where you live, get your phone number, call your parents, etc....

Off topic due to the level of abuse in this thread:
Actually some sites have been able the persecute message board offenders under the law over the past six months when the site administrators can verify that three conditions are met:

1) A person breaks the ToS
2) That same person is banned
3) That same person falsifies membership information to return to the board and continue the abuse.

Two cases in Washington state, three in Oregon, and one in Nevada that I know of. In all of these instances the users (in four cases the users families) ISP ended up banning them from their internet service as well because it breaks their ToS too. Paul has openly said that he has signed up using a different alias, and he continues to abuse, which means that he has met all three conditions. It will be interesting to see if they do submit the IP to the host and let them take it from there.

Btw - the addition of threats of physical harm does indeed esclate this case in the eyes of the legal process where online abuse is concerned.

Paul, there is no such thing as anonimity online. Even with a proxy server you have a ToS there that warns of abuse such as this, and the comment "...try to contact me in person or by phone. none of you will live to see the next day..." falls into the category of physical bodily harm. I'm not trying to scare you into stop posting, but you really want to re-think your actions up to this point. Is the entertainment value of this worth the risk? Before you get yourself in too deep with the threats and abuse you may want to reconsider your actions... This is all good fun up to a point, but I'm telling you now that I've seen lesser actions get carried all of the way to the end result legally, and you're digging yourself a really deep hole here, and that last post really crosses several lines legally. As a matter of fact, according to the way these laws work, now any one of the users here can contact their local police and report this to them and they will take it up from there... really... Back on topic:

Nakor, you think it was only Smith that Neo was sensing and not the “code” of the other Agents? Interesting… Almost giving me another reason to see it again!

Let's move the discussion back to the topic, shall we?

So I was thinking about this earlier in the week and some elements of it just seemed to mesh in well. Granted, there are many sprinklings of literary and religious mythos in the films.

Is the trilogy a modern-day Grail quest? I don't claim to be an expert on religion and my love of history doesn't really stretch back properly 2000 years.

But as opposed to Indiana Jones looking for an actual cup of Christ, one of the theories that has apparently been researched over the years was that it was a metaphorical vessel: namely Mary Magdalene carrying Jesus' child.

There are lots of possible directions one could go with this speculation. From the perspective of the machines in the animatrix episodes (which I've still not seen), the battle of chaos and order, knowledge returning to the source, etc.

All the discussion over "What is the Matrix" has served to somewhat obscure the question of "Why is the Matrix"?

There would be no rationale for the agents to have waited to conduct their raid. The meeting was well under way, in fact it was essentially over when they showed up.

Neo's reaction was only with the arrival of Smith in the car. It was him at the door as well. No agent would have sent in the earpiece and not attacked.

By the time Neo got upstairs, Smith was gone and the agents were arriving. He could well have "seen" then approaching the door through the matrix code when he gave the order to retreat.

Here's another one for discussion... right after that initial confrontation, we're first exposed to there being 2 Smith's. He has some comment about "that went as expected" (I assume in reference to the raid).

His other line, about "it's happening exactly as before, well, not exactly" is more interesting. I think its safe to assume that there are at least 2 potential differences this time. Smith's "freedom" through his interaction with Neo in M1 and him being able to replicate certainly qualify.

What really begs debate is what the "it's" is. Is it simply a matter of the agents closing in on the humans like in M1? Or does Smith have cross-Matrix knowledge from previous iterations? Is it just the failure of the raid to which he is referring? Or the deeper repetition of the cycle of the One?

Reply #75 Top
i'd say the "it's happenning..." is in relation to the One and its repetition... then the "well, not exactly" Neo not exactly playing by the rules (see architect's speech etc.)
