I should clarify that I did model/render and post process the whole thing with Lightwave & Photoshop.

CAClark, don't take offense man, lots of people get moderated. Complaining won't really help you here, just try again.

The fact I'm moderated is kinda ok, even though I can't see why it falls by the way side, but no explanations of why, yet supposedly there isn't a desire to put people off, but from here it seems to be working pretty well you know?

Anyway, what I would liek to know is whether people would be interested in the wallpaper? I'm curious.

OK....the preview image was unable to be zoomed...I believe you were contacted to submit a full-size preview not a little image....that was the 12th.

For a wallpaper there's altogether too much full white...255,255,255 which invariably will be a distraction to a work environment....

..and ultimately when dl'd and viewed full-screen the resolution/clarity was particularly muddy for 1600x1200....the definition was pretty 'ordinary'.....looking like a lossy-compressed jpeg magnified/enlarged too far.

Valid reasons for a submission rejection....

I guess that should be enough explanation for anyone.

Thanks for that, now it makes sense, and while I don't agree completely, your decision is justified, though I didn't get any email about the preview.... though I guess its a little academic anyway

That said, if the points you highlight are addressed, and the wall resubmitted, would that be ok?

Thanks man, I would recommend that these critiques are passed on to an author if their work is rejected, or I feel people will be put off.

I don't really like how some things are moderated. It's really all a matter of taste. Personally I don't like half the wallpapers I see on this site, theyre all too dark and show the same type "giger" effect. Anyone can do that. How about some variety for different tastes?

Chi Chi, it's only human to let some personal bias alter your moderation, but all of these moderators have been in the community for so many years with even more years worth of artistic experience, they're the best qualified... and what a lot of people forget is that this site is for images that work well as wallpapers... that means good art may be turned away if it's not a good wallpaper

I'd like to clear up one point that wasn't addressed....
The decision was made to not notify wallpaper authors about rejections for the simple fact that the moderators
were being abused by irate authors whose works were rejected.
I don't think that this is unreasonable, no one wants to receive hate mail for any reason.

I agree with you JM. Even tho' it's sad to see that everyone must pay for the lack of education of others. A lot of my designs have been rejected, and I dont get emails explaining the cause for rejection, but there were 2 particular designs were the moderator took the time to email me and explain why they were denied. I fixed them and re-submited them for acceptance. This is a good way to help an artis on creating better designs. But I also understand the moderators point of view, and just like JM stated, no one likes to recieve a hate mail.
In concern to the taste on designs, well.... what might be consider a bad or ugly design for some, might be exellent and beautiful for others. That is what makes this site so good, you have a variety of designs to choose from.

JM is correct, of course....when 70 or 80 percent of submissions are rejected we tended to get quite a few 'irate' responses which became quite irksome after a while so it was deemed healthier for our [moderators] peace of mind to change the response policy to as it is now......if anyone is really genuinely 'interested' as to motivation/reasons why a particular work doesn't 'make it' they can always seek clarification, as CAClark has done....no harm there...

Why don't you just get rid of some of the less popular or really old wallpapers to make room for the new ones? I expect thats one of the reasons there has to be moderation. I doubt many people would really mind if the some of the thousands of wallpapers on this website were removed, especially if they're some of the least downloaded and oldest. I mean it's nice not having all the half naked women wallpapers some websites have to offer, so it's not like I'm against moderating. I would just like to see some BRIGHT WHITE things, my desktop is covered in windows half the time anyways, so why do I care if theyre distracting. Just an idea.

At the end of the day, I don't have to like or agree with a moderators decision, but I do have to react in a responsible way. I'm an artist by trade, so I will taylor my submissions to try and fit in woth what I want, and what the moderators will allow (heh this could take a while!).

I personally would have a good laugh at hate mail, but i respect the wishes of moderators not to be exposed to it.

So all seems good for the moment!

I am quite happy to respond to e-mails requesting clarification as to why an image was rejected. I just expect it to be done in a civil manner, which is how I always approached it when I used to get moderated.

its a case of if you cant handle getting things rejected then its doubtfull you will get far.

Any artist by trade will tell you he/she appreciates constructive criticism. There is always room for improvement. Clark is the proof. Good on you Jafo

Dont know if your in a fantasy world but there are more than a few people who gets rejections.

I think CA reacted pretty neat. Fantasy world? Yeah, everybody needs some escapism...that's why you have music, movies, paintings etc etc etc....It was his first encounter with this, so....I remember a loooooooong way back how I reacted

I can understand the frustrations. I have submitted several wallpapers, none of which have been accepted. You cant tell me it's due to them being "Brycey", because I see several new ones on here that are. The biggest thing that upsets me is that you don't even offer the name of the moderator that blackballed the work. Do you guys use a voting system of sorts between you to moderate the wallpapers? I think that would be a good plan because the tastes of the one, may not be reflective of the tastes of the many. (gad that wreeks of trek)and I don't really think your system is fair as it stands. Moderations is necessary, I agree, but when you reject one and approve another that, in someones opinion, is not as good as the one rejected, it indicates that the system may need reworked.
Perhaps you could put all submits into a special area which you cannot download from, but only vote on. Leave the items there for a week or so. If the voting warrants it, then it gets approved for downloading etc.. if not, then out it goes.
Please give it some thought, as I think you are discouraging alot of potential right now.
Perhaps even letting us know who rejected the wall would give us a start. If we want to know more we can email the moderator directly.

Yes it is nice to know why it was rejected which is why they say to email them but only if you really want to know why and not to just have a go at them, i used to get annoyed at rejections but i just look at what didnt make it and improve, or if i cant then ask a moderator for their views on the one in question.
