Planetary Species: 56 6f 79 61 67 65 72
Legacy of Voyager
I had an interesting idea for a planet bound minor species.
<The form would be a mixture of Steampunk Victorian Era machinery, crystal interfaces, and fiber optics meshed together in a humanoid form>
The species in question is a curious entity that's almost childlike living in bunkers of state of machinery that mixes Steampunk and State of the Art aspects while scattered around the outer edges of their "Cities" are long forgotten rusting shells of their first landing parties that were guided to this planet. The species in question continues to build and evolve while looking for their unknown "Creators" and the jolly race of beings who repaired the first landing parties and improved them allowing to survive on their own. The creators are mostly unknown with exception of a golden record that was on the landing parties as they arrived, sadly both irreparably damaged and containing only a small amount of usable data in a language unknown to them between the two. The jolly race they want to find warned them not to search for them as a set of people is watching over them and they would likely destroy the new machine race before they even "opened their eyes". After nearly 100 years on the planet learning, growing in numbers, evolving, and searching a rare meteor shower rained down upon their cities damaging or destroying everything but the bunkers and made the atmosphere slightly more acidic causing all surface born machines to become inoperative faster requiring upgrades which were found in the meteors in the form of a crystal like substance that survived that had the ability to store data far more efficiently than what was available to them prior.
Upon meeting them:
The race would speak a mixture of Hexadecimal, Binary, and Morse code and would close the com after being unable to understand our slow form analog communications.
5 days later in game - a quest would appear via a crew member on board your ship requesting a return to Earth for information from an Archive on old Earth technologies.
Upon return to the race:
The race would remain neutral to you but curious about your form and language which sounded oddly familiar to a small item in their early history
At this point an emergency timed quest would pop up...
Sensors had detected a meteor shower much larger than the one that previously almost wiped them out is headed to the planet.
Ignore/Fail the mission the race dies and leaves behind negligible amounts of raw resources as well as their holy artifact, the broken record from Voyager 1 and 2
Defend the race and return with the raw materials from the meteor the race will help upgrade the onboard computing components with schematics on how to create more which would improve "Point Defense Tracking, Missile tracking, and a minor boost to fuel economy by adjusting flight paths to optimize use of gravity wells"
Optional quest: Ask about their holy relic which will send you back to Earth and after 7 days of digging through Archives you find a copy of the Voyager records. -- Deliver that to them with how to decipher it for a lander upgrade allowing for it to be more efficient in resource gathering by jettisoning junk materials from the collected materials.
Some time later: A call with a quest to return for diplomatic relations would arrive. If you performed the optional quest they'll be very happy with you while thanking you and give you the warning the Jolly fellow gave them as well as giving you some data on the local cluster of solar systems
If you have the "Jolly Fellow" with you a scene with one of the bot's head exploding in joy would happen and they would transfer even more data, including data that was deemed highly dangerous to them.
