I am with Jafo, it's the global attitude. It's the stuttering of the economy and the knowledge life is not secure. It's the neverending talk of all kinds of diplomats and high ranked people and the non changing attitude of those who hold strings.

This is only a suggestion! There are situations -as in every relationship- where disagreements are inevitable, where words become destructive and not constructive and when tempers may flare out of sheer desperation. Would it then be possible to have like a grievance panel, where individuals could present their views or mishaps? This isn't a condemnation to anyone, honest!!! Yet, WC is growing and will continue to do so, therefore both artists and users can have recourse to a group of independent people who in a subtle and constructive manner offer a third party and neutral judgement. I think it could offer a forum whereby people will feel at least more acceptance.

I am no expert in any of these things; perhaps this is an awful idea!

i've noticed a quite different tone to peoples' interactions since the prelude to and carrying out of the war in iraq. a certain number of people really split their pants without restraint in the various related threads. i don't think anyone is sitting around mulling the particular over-the-top words of any one particular individual, but i think that a lot of people, down at the deep subconscious level, were left with a very bad psychological taste in their mouth that hasn't dissipated, and were dumbfounded by the extreme depth of hatred and total disrespect shown in some of the venom spewing. the earlier "niceness" around here suddenly was made to look very hypocritical, like some form of fair weather, smooth seas illusion of harmony and mutual respect.

I guess people didn't think that there would be a 100 different belief or ideals and that once they are known the other 99 would pounce on them with there beliefs. So I guess there could be a lot of animosity there. That could and did upset the apple cart. Oh well. live and learn.

i don't think that banning the "war" threads would have helped much. they at least focused the rampant animosity in a small area, instead of spreading it around the board.

Maybe they will think before posting such a controversial thread in the future.
