Great... There was a driver update for my video card in September, but it says "update failed" when I try to install it. Back in the days of DOS I would know how to get it updated one way or another, in 2017 I have no idea what to do about "update failed":-(
EDIT: It took all night to figure out, but I finally got the video driver to install and the game seems to be working now. I have barely played it at all so far, but the arena can be a lot bigger than this. You want to eliminate the faster ship's ability to run for an annoyingly long amount of time, or completely separate from the slower ship. It is a "boxing ring", but it can be a lot bigger than this. This ships are still moving very fast, although not nearly as fast as before. The gravity at the center is really an optional thing, like the star in Space Wars, and not something most players are going to want there most of the time. At least not one with this much gravity. The map being bigger, with less gravity on the star, will make it being there less annoying, but it really is in the way and forcing the player's ship to into a "racetrack" pattern that interfere's with their own decision making/tactics/plan.
The speed and gravity go together. The ships still moving too fast and the strong gravity are related too each other. The high speed of the ships powers through the gravity. This is why the gravity seems so strong, and yet has so little effect on the ships at the same time. The gravity is really strong, but the ships move so fast they power through it so it seems "too weak" at the same time. If the gravity is "right" in this kind of game you can almost put your ship into a stable orbit if you try.
