Melee only? No base game yet?

Steam let me install the base game "Star Control: Origins" but all that's in the directory is Direct X stuff. Is that normal? I've poked around briefly on these forums and the Steam Community, but couldn't find a direct answer.

All the promo material seems to imply that only Melee is in beta testing now.

 

Are lifetime founders supposed to have the base game alpha/beta?

Found the answer over on the Discord server.

 

1) the old beta we were on is the 'mainline' of the game. I fyou pre-order the game you get this appid which points to th estore page. This appid now has no stuff in it so that people who buy the pre-order dont' start getting wierd things
 
 
 
2) the new beta key is for the NDAed pre-release SuperMeelee beta which doesn tpoint to the store page and will be removed from your libraries once the SM beta is over

i'm glad they gave us this tidbit to chew on. its going to be fun and will at least get combat out there to provide feedback to.
