A question I didn't want to ask

Good day Stardock folks!

I am not sure who to ask this of, and I haven't gotten a response to my PM about it. Here goes:

****************

It is with the greatest respect for your company and works that I ask the following:  May I have a refund of the founder program cost and be let out?

In light of the news that this will not be the actual sequel to SC2, I feel mislead.  Additionally, It has been just under 2 years now and I've not gotten to play 1 second of alpha, beta, or anything.  My experience to this point has been getting monthly newsletters and writing the occasional response.

I'm not mad or anything, but 2 years ago, I thought I was getting:

1. the actual successor to SC1/2;

2. to play the game before others.  To date, neither of those are, or have been, the case.

Of course I will honor the NDA on anything obtained to this point. The fact that I haven't been sent a key, let alone played a second of in-game action, means I don't have anything much to share anyway.

I realize this probably isn't the best place to ask, but I don't know where else to go to. I wish you the best of luck in making the game, and will probably buy it when it's done, but my heart for helping to create has been sucked out by the news that Paul and Fred will be doing the actual sequel.

Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to your response.

Well, as for not getting to play the beta, you were never given a timeline when you signed up. Patience is a virtue. Besides, that time is now - you will be getting a key in 2 days time on the 19th.

As for your first point, Stardock has never made any secret of the fact that this is not a direct sequel to SC1/SC2. It's a different universe in a related multiverse. That's been part of the mantra all along, and if you missed that, well, that's on you. It couldn't have been clearer.

I'm not from Stardock, so I can't say whether you'll get a refund or not, but frankly neither of your points hold any water and you have been neither deceived nor unfairly affected by any of this, so if it was my choice I wouldn't refund you. Honestly, it sounds more like you've just found out that Paul and Fred are making a new Starcon game and thus have lost interest in SC:O (rather than being excited at having TWO Starcon games to look forward to, like most of the rest of us are) and you think that means you should get to change your mind about purchasing it. I don't see why you should get your money back just because you've changed your mind.

That's my 2c, for what it's worth.
