Tiles app too big on second monitor when main monitor is changed to 4K resolution

Hello,

I have two monitors, one with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 (4K), the second monitor runs with 1280 x 1024 pixel. I have the Tiles app placed on the smaller, second monitor and found out that the whole windows is quite too big. I know that I can change to small, tiny etc., but it is still too big!

I didn't have this problem with my previous main monitor at a resolution of 1920 * 1080, and I remember also that the Tiles app was e.g. still much smaller when set to 'medium'

Maybe the differences between the two monitors is now too big?

Thanks for help,

Kind regards!

It's especially the font size which does not change/adapt.

What happens if you make the smaller monitor your main one?

Quoting launchee,

one with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 (4K)

Quoting launchee,

the second monitor runs with 1280 x 1024 pixel.

Please note that you have two monitors that are literally
3 x the difference horizontally: 1280 * 3 = 3840
2.1 x vertically: 1024 * 2.109375 = 2160

Your first monitor has an aspect ratio of "4K UHD 16:9 (1.78:1)", and your second monitor a ratio of "SXGA 5:4 (1.25:1)".

If you had two 16:9 monitors, say your "4K UHD 16:9 (1.78:1) | 3840 x 2160" and a "HD 16:9 (1.78:1) | 19201080".  When you do the math:

  • 1920 * 2 = 3840 | 1080 * 2 = 2160

As you can see above, the two resolutions are the same.  The 4K monitor is literally 2x the amount of pixels, in the same area as the HD monitor, resolution wise.  So if you have an icon on the HD monitor, that is 64 x 64, when you move it to the 4K monitor, it will shrink to 32 x 32.  This is because they fit 2x as many pixels, into the same amount of area on the 4K monitor.

Quite honestly, you are trying to fit a rectangle peg into a square hole.  Unless the Tiles App can handle two different resolutions, at two different aspect ratios - which I doubt, you may not find a solution.

My advice, is to try to find some middle ground, and then save your money for a new second monitor; any 16:9 aspect ratio should do, as they will then just be divisible by each other.

Hope that helps,

Regards,
