How did you meet your spouse or SO

How did you meet your spouse or SO

If you're married or dating, how did you meet them?

I met my wife back in 1992. We had two Electrical Engineering classes together and a EE lab. In the lab, I accidentally started a fire due to some...mistakes with my circuit. This got her attention.

Soon after we started studying together and became friends. A few weeks later, my roommate in college told me he was going to be moving in with an old friend of his who was transferring which meant I needed to find a place to live. But it was so late in the semester that it was looking like I'd end up being in a dorm room with some random freshman which I didn't want.

My friend (Debbie who would become my wife) said that she and her 3 friends (all girls) were renting a house next year and were looking for a 5th person. I'm a guy. LIve with 4 girls? Sure!

Eventually we got engaged and got married in 1994 and lived happily ever after.

I orginally met him, at my closet friends wedding "he was the groom! (I was already married) 9 years later, she passed away. Was so terrible! So young. 2 years later, he invites us to a party, his first since he lost his wife, nearly two years. I was divorced, (that was terrble) , so we were uneasy about getting together, even tough we were old friends. 5 months later, we had our first (date) New Years eve, actually to avoid going to parties and being "fixed up" with blind dates, neither of us wanted to do that, so we planned to get together. 3 months later, madly in love got married and 14 years later, we are great! He helped me raise my children and then we had one of our own (he never had any)! He is wonderful and it has always seemed a little nice/strange to see our friends and they knew us, way back, married to other people. I was real close to his first wife's family and they ALL came to our wedding! So cool! You all might have heard of him on WC, bordfryer123. Best guy in the world! Sure hope that wasn't too confusing.....

Met my wife 6 years ago while chatting online with a few friends (ICQ kinda thing) that we had in common. We continued chatting for a number of months before we exchanged phone numbers. A few weeks later, in december 1996, I was taking the plane to Philadelphia to meet her. And right there at the airport, where she came to pick me up, Cupid stroke us with his arrow. I spent the weekend there, then flew back home to Montreal on the Sunday night. In January I asked her to marry me (while chatting online), she said yes, and on April 18th 1997 we were getting married in Montreal. Two and a half year later we had one beautiful boy, and two years after that another one. We just celebrated our 6 years of happy marriage.
Back then, marrying somebody you met online was a crazy thing.

Interesting subject.

In my case was really a surprise. I knew my wife since she was 12 ( I was 17 and alredy dating someone ) - as she was a friend of my sisters - and we became really close friends since them.

I continued dated with other girls ( my wife says that I was loosing time ) and I did not see my future wife for about 5 years.

One day, we met each other again...and 14 months after, we got married....18 years ago, 2 boys ago, a dog, 2 lovebirds and a happy family.

I had a crush on Nick (the man I'd eventually marry) since I was about 11'ish. He was a little over 8 years older than me, so needless to say I was a mere child in his eyes. I didn't know him really well, but I knew who he was and that I thought he was just dreamy . Ok, it was the 80's I doubt I used the word 'dreamy' probably more like, "He is Fine." When I was about 12'ish he got married. About 7 years later, I no longer a child heard through the grapevine that Nick was seperated from his wife, and in the process of divorcing. A week later I remembered there was an engagement party I was going to that coming weekend, and I knew he would be too. Well, wicked lil lass that I am I went with an agenda.

Needless to say, I made my move that night. Only... he didn't understand that it I that really made the moves. All that time he thought he was da man, and I was this innocent lil lass. That night he asked for my phone number, we began to date, got engaged a year later another year later we had a huge "My Big Fat Greek Wedding-like" wedding. In May we'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary.

What was funny is we're both from New York, went to the same schools, lived in the same neighborhoods, hung at similar places, and never did our paths cross or that we remember, because of our age difference.

Oh,and I finally confessed a couple of years ago that he wasn't "Da Man" and that it was I who had made the right moves on him that first night long ago but I was too smooth for it to be detected. And now he plays the poor guy that got seduced by this wicked young girl role.

p.s. do your thing Jafo, cite me, I know there are misspelling's in there.

~ This is actually quite funny. I used to manage a video store which rented adult movies....yes, porn! I ended up hiring this girl I thought was pretty hot. Needless to say, working in a place where sex was in your face 24/7 it led to a lot of flirting and inuendos. Eventually we started fooling around and then started dating. After two years, I ended up asking her to marry me. Obviously she said yes and we've been together ever since.
