Inside the Creator's Update

I checked 'em out. Some are ok, others are...meh. Most I would never use.

Well...being inside the Creators Build has been a trip. It broke Xion and I thought uninstalling recent updates would cure it...nope. Same problem as before. Xion will not update as I tweak the skin. I might have to roll back to a previous OS iteration. Happy 'Anniversary' everybody.

Stay away from the previews. Switch to only full releases, and even they are really betas....

Very wise words indeed.  While a handful of early adopters say they've had no issues with preview editions, the majority report ongoing problems and troubles.  Essentially, a preview is just a basic alpha and should never be used as a primary OS

Thing is, the full release of Windows 10 is still in a constant state of flux and problems will arise for some because the OS is open-ended and still adding features, etc... and sometimes those new features can break things for some users. 

I'm still not convinced on Win 10, and there are things I still don't like about it, but I have the Professional Edition on my AMD Big Beastie and [unlike on my HP 2-in-1] I have more control over some of my pet peeves, like being able to defer updates, etc.

Having said that, there are some nifty new features coming up with the Creator's Edition, as is explained in the linked article of the OP.  I also went on to read some of the other articles linked to there, and I recommend reading them. Whether you consider yourself an average or above average user, there are some great tips as well as various hidden Win 10 features that have been exposed.

Not going to argue the point...nope. I said I put the blame right where it belongs. Its on me. Fortunately I discovered that I still have the original 1511 ISO.

Thing is, if you can dual boot to run the stable release of Win 10 as your primary OS, and the Creator's Update as a secondary OS to play/experiment with on another partition, then there's nothing wrong with trying it out.  At least that way you aren't messing up your day to day OS and having to reformat all the time.

That's how I tested Vista until it became a stable release, and while many didn't like Vista, I quite like it as an OS and was quite happy to run it until 7 came out. Truth is, Win 7 would not have existed if Vista hadn't been the start of a completey new computing era.  For all the hate it received, Vista made both 7 and 10 possible.

Since development is continually ongoing, it'll be in "beta" forever.

The point is, there's a paradox: If you want the ability (in the future) to put off the update for a month, you have to accept this update.

Doesn't make sense to prolong the inevitable. That's why I went for the Creators update. To my chagrin though, Xion may or may not work and if it doesn't...bye. More later...

I have terminal cancer, makes perfect sense to me to delay the inevitable.

And yes, MS/Windows and their updates can and will screw up your system and your software. But why be in such a hurry to help it along.

Your giving up on the latest and greatest for an outdated music player....THAT makes no sense.

I shall wait until people like Ross help MS work out the bugs. I'll get the Creators Update when it is forced on me.

It's hard to make a sensible comment after this, but I wish you the best and on a lighter note April 11 is not only the date for Creator's Update, but also (not that anyone still cares) the fact that Vista is on the deathbed and Microsoft will pull the plug on April 11!!!

Let's take a moment to remember Vista and the Aero UI. The most advanced UI Microsoft has ever created and I don't think people understood the full potential because of its locked down nature. A milestone in computer history that may never be reached again...

When Vista arrived I thought the future looked bright (well, at least transparent). Now the future looks a lot more pane-ful (see what I did there... ).

So...here's the deal. Wiz is right about antiquated. I've decided to go with what really works, aside from my experimenting with SMX. The only non-SD proggies left are Rainlendar and Rainmeter. I've done rainies but not Rainmeter. I did two walls and they turned out pretty good. I've done docks and tiles. So what's left? WindowBlinds! I'm going to indulge in all of the above, even if SKS scares me. LOL

You could try CursorFX and Iconpackager, as well as various loose icons for a number of programs and services.  You could also contact the WindowBlinds skinners to see if you could add these elements to those blinds that don't have any 'complimentary' cursors and icons to go with them.

There's also Winamp... Jafo's goto media player.  It may have lost on-going support from the developer, but many people still use Winamp as their default media player.

You're leaving out WB, Objectdock, Rainies, Rainmeter. That sorta stuff.

No, not leaving anything out, just adding some that you hadn't mentioned.

Now why on Earth would you want a cat?  They stink up the place and hack up furballs all over the joint. Oh, and if you say it's to keep you rodent free, we got a couple of [not smelly] dogs that do that rather effectively.

However, if it's a digital cat that don't crap inside and is economical cos it only eats bytes, then that's okay.

Does anybody want one? I got 8! Mr. Fidge who's almost 9...Khaleesie, Tieren and Tyler, all a year old. Lil Dak, Khaleesi's baby, 3 months old and three little males about two weeks old, give or take a day. Those are Tyler's brood. Four AM hijinks!
